Guest guest
Every child reacts differently. My son was on 3mg of Intuniv for a couple of months. It did absolutely nothing. He was taking Vyvanse and Fanapt with it. Now he is taking Trileptal and Abilify. This seems to be a better combo. He is 15 and has had behavior issues. The ADD meds were making him pull out his hair. Now that he is off it, he stopped. As long as his teachers aren't complaining, I am going to try to keep him off it. It is very hard to find the right combo of medications. It doesn't always matter what doctor you see. It is all trial and error. My son has been hospitalized twice already and sometimes that is the only way to figure out a good combo. As scary as it was to send him there, it turned out to be a blessing! If you need any other info, let me know! Guest guest
The important thing about Intuniv is that it is NOT a stimulant like adderal, vyvanse, ritalin. It is actually a blood pressure reducer that has been formulated into an extended release pill. The non extended release version is tenex or clonidine. It is Rx for impulsivity because it tends to slow the child down and make them sleepy. Some kids can tolerate the sleepiness and some cant.
