Guest guest
http://www.wlky.com/r/30258279/detail.html MERCER COUNTY, Ky. -- The mother of a 9-year-old autistic boy who claimed her son was stuffed in a duffel bag by a teacher took her allegations to the school board Thursday night. She said she left angrier than when she arrived. Baker said her son, , was disciplined inside a bag at his school in Mercer County last month. Since then, 170,000 people have signed an online petition demanding the firing of the teacher responsible and for extra training for special education instructors.... More at link above including video from the school board meeting. The part that really gets my attention is: Mercer County Education Association President Wilma defends the practice saying: " If it is at that school, that is an appropriate method of restraint and maybe Mrs. Baker didn't understand that at the time, " said. The Kentucky Education Association is a teacher and employee group: http://www.kea.org/about_kea.aspx Kentucky Education Association KEA is a voluntary membership organization for school employees. KEA has a broad base of member practitioners in public education, including K-12 public school teachers and classified support professional employees, school administrators, the Workforce Development Cabinet, Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), college students preparing to become teachers, and retired educators.
