I used a seat mounted safety vest that is used on the school buses. It literally saved our lives. If you can imagine drivng across alligator alley at night and being kicked in the head repeatedly with those sneakers as I drove, well it was life or death. 1st Class Coach sells them . 1. It is a harness that zips up the back and it is fastened with "O" rings to a seat hook up that is made for your seat and easy to install (I did mine). You will need to call with measurements of your child and the type of car you have and it takes about a week and cost $100. about 6 yrs. ago when I bought it. It is very difficult for a child to get out of while they are small. It's great from 6-about 10. Miki is 13 now and it just slows her down.
