Guest guest
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with iLs? My son's OT has just recommended this therapy for his auditory processing issues. I have done a little research on it but I would love some parental input. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi there, Yes, we did iLs with my son, and his auditory processing and noise sensitivity issues are much better. He hated hair dryers and vacum cleaners, now he can tolerate both. Just make sure that you are using someone that has the iLs training (check the iLs website for providers). When we did it there were only two OT companies in Broward that offered iLs. The one in Davie is overpriced, I prefer the office in Weston. Guest guest
I used to do it as an OT for a private OT company in Miami. I tried it first on myself as I have tinnitus and then tried it with my daughter. It worked so well for her and for all the other children that had the treatment. If the therapist can provide you with the cds and teach you how to do it after many of their sessions - you can help your own child. Make sure you invest in very good earphones (not buds) they have to surround the ear. Guest guest
, We got great results with Berard AIT which has been around a long time. There are many certified practitioners around the world. You can check Dr. Berard's website: www.berardaitwebsite.com I became certified after I saw the improvement in my son. Guest guest
I would love to do the Berard AIT but it is not covered by insurance and iLs is.I have to exhaust all insured options first. Thanks for the reference however. Integrated listening Systems iLs Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with iLs? Guest guest
I completely understand. The reason Berard is not covered by insurance is because it is considered educational. However, if you have Consumer Directed Care (CDC) you can put it on your plan under savings and it will be covered. Good luck Always Ana Brushingham To: sList Sent: Thursday, February 2, 2012 5:21 PMSubject: Re: Integrated listening Systems iLs I would love to do the Berard AIT but it is not covered by insurance and iLs is.I have to exhaust all insured options first. Guest guest
I've heard Berard is very good, but we choose the iLs because I heard (not sure if this is still true) that if you do Berard, the child may never ever wear head phones again. However, with iLs the child can wear head phones. Guest guest
Interesting that ILS came up. I just started back with Barbara Ladin weston for speech. In our first session she put headphones on my daughter. And after a short while she responded quite well. This is a child that never puts anything on her head however she loves music I'm curious to hear what others have experienced. Guest guest
We bought one on Craig's list - it was an investment but now we can accelerate our child's program faster. Good luck Subject: Re: Integrated listening Systems iLsTo: "sList " <sList >Date: Thursday, February 2, 2012, 3:18 PM , We got great results with Berard AIT which has been around a long time. Guest guest
Anytime you do a sound program there is always a chance that when the child wears headphones to hear music it may undo some of the benefits. That is for all the programs whether they tell you or not. Dr. Berard has always been very careful about this. I have had parents that have used the headphone and said that it did not affect their child in a negative way. It all depends on your child. I personally would not take a chance after getting major gains. I get many kids that have done other sounds programs and the school has put headphones on the kids and the parents come to me to re do the program. I also get kids that other programs were not beneficial. All kids are different, however anyone that tells you that you can use headphones to hear music after doing their program I would questioned. You can always call Sally Brockett in Connecticut who has been doing this for many years, she has the most experience in this area. www.ideatrainingcenter.com Always Ana Brushingham To: "sList " <sList > Sent: Thursday, February 2, 2012 6:53 PMSubject: Re: Integrated listening Systems iLs I've heard Berard is very good, but we choose the iLs because I heard (not sure if this is still true) that if you do Berard, the child may never ever wear head phones again.
