Is boric acid effective for BV?

Hi Everyone--

I haven't been around on this list lately because my symptoms have

been very much improved thanks to PT! Unfortunately over the last few

weeks I've developed either a yeast or BV infection. When i do a

douche or sitz bath with apple cider vinegar the symptoms (primarily

itching) go away for about two days.

Ok--so I went to my primary care doc today about my infection. She

said it looked like BV. My V specialist said it did not look like BV

and did a yeast culture that was negative and said said to do nothing.

It drives me crazy that these v docs won't properly test us for

infections--just cause we have pain doesn't mean we don't get them!

My doc prescribed boric acid for a week then probiotic douches for 7

days. She said that boric acid is good for BV--but I've only ever read

about it being good for yeast? Does anyone know if it is good for BV

or not?

She did a wet prep so I am going to call in a few days to see what the

results are if it is BV or yeast. I have some Flagyl leftover from

last year and part of me wonders if I should just take that if I do in

fact have BV.

I've only ever had BV once, as opposed to yeast which I've had a

million times. If anyone is knowledgeable and can share your

experiences with me I would appreciate it.
