Hi all,

I'm finding the Cymbalta to give the desired effects, controlling

depression and giving me that added pain relief.

But, this is coming with a price. I've got the lower digestive side

effects from it, swinging from not being able to 'go' to the other

extreme (from gallons of fluids consumption). Will this level out if

I stick with the Cymbalta? Has anybody had side effects initially

that disappeared as the body adjusted?

I also have the coughing side effect, which is interrupting my

already fragmented sleep (obstructive sleep apnea). Has anyone else

had this and been on the Cymbalta long enough to see it go away?

Lastly, I've got the jitters when I try to go to sleep at night, big

time. I don't have restless leg syndrome, but wow, if I don't take

amitriptylin, I just run a marathon in place in bed! Will this get

better? Even with the amitriptylin I am having problems sleeping. The

Cymbalta is the only med change I've had.

I take Cymbalta. I would say that some of the side effects will

improve and others may not. I think the digestive effects improved for

me - although it's hard to tell because I take so many other meds now

as well. I do know that I've had to take something to help me sleep

ever since I started taking Cymbalta but I felt like it was worth it

because I like the extra energy it gives me (compared to other

antidepressants I have taken). And my doctor recently raised the dose

to see if it would help more with my pain, which it seems to be doing.

I don't remember having a problem with coughing though. Do you take a

blood pressure medicine? I had trouble with coughing from one of

those. How long have you been taking Cymbalta?

Mira,

I did find a pretty intensive listing on rxlist.com of the side

effects of cymbalta. Cough was one of them. And yes, I'm on a

diuretic, triam hctz, for the blood pressure. Cough doesn't appear to

be one of the side effects of the triam. With the cymbalta,

hyperhydrosis is more commonly thought of, as well as intestinal

upset. I hope I can get past the cough part, as it's doing the job

for the fibro pain along with the ultram. And you're right, we can

use other things to help with the sleep issues, or lack thereof. I

tried to sleep without my amitriptylin last night and it was a no-go.

But the cymbalta doesn't wipe me out like the other antidepressants

does, which is a big plus. Just started the cymbalta about six weeks

ago. When I go back to my doc I'll discuss any remaining concerns

about it.

I'll be changing health insurance companies beginning of June. Right

now waiting for the employer to get us our Cobra forms, as I'll have

to continue that one, no matter what the cost. argh, this country's

healthcare system is going to h*** in a handbag fast!

Have you ever tried Ambien for sleeping? That is what I use, especially now

that I'm on an extra stimulant during the day(Adderall). Do you take the

Cymbalta only in the morning? I take mine twice a day, but the evening dose is

usually around 6 p.m. With it I'm also taking my Klonopin for anti-anxiety, and

several other meds. The Klonopin usually makes me sleepy, so I'll sleep for an

hour or two around 7 or 8 p.m. Then when I awaken, I take a half-dose of

Tylenol PM, and another muscle relaxer. And when I'm ready to go back to sleep

I take the Ambien. Don't know if that helps at all.
