Guest guest
I agree with Hollis, if you use ANY type of treatment even natural tea tree oil, it will affect the results. You have to suffer with itch and burn for 2 weeks, then go in and get tested. BlueeberriPsssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
Hi Everyone-- Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot, but over the last 6 months was doing amazingly better thanks to PT so I haven't been around. Unfortunately about a month ago I got BV, which I haven't had in years. In fact, I haven't had any infections since when I first got vulvodynia more than 2 years ago. Prior to that I had suffered one bout of BV and then repeated yeast infections, plus one 5 month long yeast infection that was misdiagnosed and miserable. So it has been really scary for me to again have an infection. I was given Flagyl for 7 days. I took fem-dophilus at the same time and have continued to take that plus antifungals since the antibiotics finished. My symptoms have improved a lot but I still have irritation and itching that are not a normal part of my vulvodynia. Could it be that I still have BV? What would be a good way to proceed? I was thinking about trying fem-dophilus vaginally for a week and then if I still don't feel better going to get retested. But then what would they do, just give me more antibiotics? Do any of you who have experience with this have advice? Do you think this sounds like a good plan? I'm also wondering if I need to not take any probiotics or antifungals or anything like that for a period prior to retesting. And of course I'll probably have to fight the doc just for proper testing. Any advice much appreciated.
Guest guest
, did you try Michele in Raleigh. Tell her I sent you. She is a really good person and will take care of you. She will not make you wait a month. I don't know anything about bacteria, yeast, etc, but I know that Michele will help you in any way you need. In NC a good VV doctor is Libby in Charlotte. If you get Michele to refer you to Libby , you can get in sooner. Libby knows all about the different infections, pathogens, skin conditions, etc. Take care > > Hi Everyone-- > > Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot, but > over the last 6 months was doing amazingly better thanks to PT so I > haven't been around. > > Unfortunately about a month ago I got BV, which I haven't had in > years. Guest guest
julie -- i've heard that you need to stop any treatments two weeks prior to getting tested in order to get accurate results. hollis > > Hi Everyone-- > > Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot, but > over the last 6 months was doing amazingly better thanks to PT so I > haven't been around. > > Unfortunately about a month ago I got BV, which I haven't had in > years. Guest guest
Hi --YES! I have an appointment with Dr. on October 6. I'm so thankful for your referral because I was honestly at a loss of how or where to find a decent GYN. Someone else referred me to Dr. Motyka in Chapel Hill but she is booked up until JULY! I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again. > > > > Hi Everyone-- > > > > Some of you may not know me, I used to post on this group a lot, but > > over the last 6 months was doing amazingly better thanks to PT so I > > haven't been around. > > > > Unfortunately about a month ago I got BV, which I haven't had in > > years.
