Guest guest
Sherry: Over-the-counter drugs are something Dr. R talks about at clinic. Just like alcohol, he suggests staying away from them after your surgery. The reason is that they can be potentially damaging to your liver. I think the same reasoning behind the alcohol applies to the motrin/tylenol/aspirin types of drugs. He doesn't say you absolutely can't take them (e.g. if I had a killer headache I might take some once in a blue moon) but he recommends against it because of the risk to your liver. You certainly wouldn't want to take Advil daily like I used to do before my sinus surgery!!!!!!!!! (I was keeping Advil and Sudafed in business). I sure hope the MGB surgery is as miraculous for my weight problems as my sinus surgery (done with lasers) was for my sinus problems!! They are almost migraine like. I was wondering > if anyone had similar experiences after transplant. Is he on Prograf? Headaches are a very common side effect of this drug. I get them frequently. From the manufacturer's website: " Neurotoxicity, including tremor, headache, and other changes in motor function, mental status, and sensory function were reported in approximately 55% of liver transplant recipients in the two randomized studies. Guest guest
Lonnie's been diagnosed with ocular migraines. He's on medication for them, but if he combines it with his lidoderm patch, he sleeps for 12 hours. The hepatologist hasn't mentioned anything about the Prograf making them worse. She did lower the Prograf (because of elevated kidney numbers) and added Rapamune. We go back to see her in February to follow up. If they're not any better, he gets a referral to another doctor. Guest guest
, I have suffered from migranes since my first transplant in 97. Imatrix is the only thing that helps them. Taking Tylenol doesn't help at all. I didn't have any pre transplant. Both Neoral and Prograf can cause head aches and my Dr.s have attributed mine to those drugs.
