Guest guest
Welcome , Happy to meet you, also. Surprised to see you had your thyroid removed at such a young age. I had mine removed in 2005 due to cancer. Also have permanent Hypoparathyroidism which puts me in the hospital when I get the flu or stomach virus. Prior to my thyroidectomoy I had Hypothyroidism for almost 20 years, too. Hope your insurance approves your lap band procedure. Several people here have had that or other weight reduction surgery. Do you belong to the RA support group also. I am a member there. hugs, Debbie J > > Good afternoon all, > > > > My name is . Guest guest
Hi Debbie and thanks for the welcome, <Surprised to see you had your thyroid removed at such a young age. I had mine removed in 2005 due to cancer.> At age 13, I had a goiter and the surgeon accidentally removed the Parathyroid/severely damaged it at the same time. Apparently, that is very common in thyroid surgeries. My endocrinologist told me this condition can only be caused by surgery. I never knew that. < Also have permanent Hypoparathyroidism which puts me in the hospital when I get the flu or stomach virus.> So far, mine just messes with my calcium levels big time and I am monitored by an endocrinologist every 3 months. <Hope your insurance approves your lap band procedure.> Me too. J From what I understand, it should. <Do you belong to the RA support group also. I am a member there. > I do, but have not been active due to computer problems. Thanks again for the welcome,
