I think I would like a little more in depth information and studies done to give

proof. For those of us who have gotten every imaginable therapy and treatment,

this doesn't sound like a reasonable concept. My son is in his twenties and I

have spent a lot of money and time on therapies and treatments, and he has

improved in some areas and not at all in other areas. My son is who he is and I

will always love him no matter what, but if I thought there was a " cure " for his

autism I would do what I could to get it, just so that he will have ease in his

future years when I am not here to take care of him.

I don’t think anyone can cure Autism,,,either the

child was misdiagnosed or Dr wasn’t sure what’s wrong the child so

Dr suggested to do behavior Therapy and see.. My son has been in Behavior

therapy since he was 18 months old, now he’s 8 yrs old he has improved in

some areas…so if Behavior therapy had the cure for Autism then what

happen to those parents who gave up their house and everything else to do that

kind of therapy? Think again…..

It's one thing to say something is a study that comes out over a PR wire and another thing to say something is "evidenced-based research" (not scientific based research) and it's published in a recognized peer review professional journal like the New England Journal of Medicine.

I have learned that something that is just a "study" is not to be trusted as valid and if a treatment or intervention is evidence-based and published in a peer reviewed journal (which means it's rigorous research and has been validated many times over) only then can it be trusted as valid and reliable. "Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way." -Abraham Lincoln

I have witness a child recover from autism so I know that it is possible. I guess what is left to be determined is how one defines recovered. This child I know is still autistic but he functions normally in a mainstream second grade class without assistance. He has friends, plays sports, seemingly does all of the things that his typically developing peers do. His parents have never said that he is cured, just that he does not suffer from any of the behaviors associated with autism any longer. When this child was diagnosed with autism at age 3 he was diagnosed as being on the more severe side, but now, he is a typical boy who lives a typical life. It took a lot of hard work and a couple of bankruptcy filings along the way but their child is functioning above grade level in a mainstream classroom making meaningful relationships. I pray the same for my child and each of yours. I understand the skepticism because not all that glitters is gold, but their are therapies, medical interventions, and dietary issues that when addressed, can produce amazing results.

Thats great news. Ive a couple say that autistic behaviors could be improved. What measures were given to this child? Im thinking of starting behavior therapy soon. My child is five years old and is also on the more severe side, hes also nonverbal. Thank you

It is great ABA because it reduces a lot autistic characteristics and they start to communicate more verbally or in another way. It is better if anyone involve in the children live will follow the same ABA plan.Sent from my iPhone

My son is nonverbal but already communicates with gestures and grabbing your hand or showing you what he wants. Im considering joining rethink autism. It gives parents and professionals to give aba therapy. Im going to try to get it through CMS Kidcare and then give it at home by me. What do you think? Ive heard rethink autism has changed the lives of some families, its worth a try I believe.

He did all of the traditional therapies, ABA, OT, Speech, etc., he also was treated bio medically by Dr. Rossignal in Melbourne (my son sees him as well, he is great and also is the father of two kids on the spectrum). He did intense HBOT for three years which really made a huge difference in his speech, cognition, and behaviors. He was in a really great ESE pre-k program and did about 10 to 12 hours a week of ABA therapy. Most importantly, he has a lot of people praying for him constantly and that makes a world of difference. I have a four year old son who is following the same protocol that this little boy followed and I am starting to see a huge difference in my son who is starting to say four word sentences and is in the beginning stages of literacy. We just started the HBOT therapy and I have high hopes for that.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I know that Dr. Levinison in Miami Beach has chambers for his clients and he is also a DAN doctor so you could get your biomed from him as well as your oxygen therapy. We bought a chamber so we can do therapy at our home as much as we want, in the long run it was much more economical to go that route.

My chamber has a oxygen re-generator which recycles air and turns it into 95 % pure oxygen so you do not have to purchase anything but the chamber, no extra supplies are needed. There are ways to get insurance to pay for HBOT but it is tricky. Google HBOT and insurance and start reading the different posts as there are lots of ideas of how to get insurance to cover it. I chose not to go that route as I got a great deal on my chamber and I am sick to death of fighting with my insurance company.

We used Dr. Levinson for a while and he was really great to us. We now use Dr. Rossignal in Melbourne (worth the drive) and we love him. Both of his son's are on the spectrum and he can really relate to our struggles, fears, and victories as he has gone through them all as well. Here is Dr. Levinson's info:
