Best wishes for Fred. Being like Barb is

not easy, it takes experience. The only thing you can do is try to do your

best.

Subject: Diagnosis:

Pancreatitis?

Fred was admitted to hospital last night after having 102.8.

fever. That was the last straw - could not get his gasro to call back, and he

wa in a lot of pain and still tons of diarrhea. Lost 15 pounds in about 10

days. I finally got the dr on call after 90 minutes and she said go to

emergency.

His gastro this am not convinced it's pancreatitis, even

though lipase level 5 times the norm. He'll have endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy

this afternoon.

His pulse rate in emergency room was 140, was down to 119

when I left. He's definitely a sick puppy - it's his first ever admittance to a

hospital.

So I'm on my way over to aspire to the patient advocacy role

of Barb Henshaw - yeah, wish me good luck with that! :)

Aww ! Give sweet Fred our best. That is no good. I have heard

that hurts like the dickens if that is what it is. Let's hope not...or

do we want a diagnosis? Hard to decide.

At least there is no bug up his butt.

Love you,

Hi ,

I'm sorry to hear about Fred's hospitalization, but maybe they will finally figure out what is causing all his pain. Good luck to Fred and to his advocate, in whom I have the utmost faith! Keep us updated.

Hey Marie -

Don't count your bugs before they're hatched! There very well may be

another bug up Fred's butt. The diarrhea is non-stoppable, which would

indicate the " return of BUBBA " (bug up butt.)They've got him on two

antibiotics, a protonics bag, and about two other meds floating thru

his IVS, but the one he loves the best is the Demerol. What a shocker. :)

He had an endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy today and was dx with severe

gastritis and severe ulcerative colitis. Dr. said it looked like

someone rubbed sandpaper up and down his entire stomach and bowel.

He'll be in hospital for 4-7 days or more, if they can't get the UC

under control.

The ultrasound showed no abnormality to the pancreas, so it does NOT

look like it's pancreatitis.

And Fred has lost all modesty and sense of decorum due to this ordeal

- he's wearing Depends until he can depend on his bowels to quit

impersonating a squirt gun.

Love you back,

Last Thursday I was invited to a dinner to honor living donors at Lahey in Boston. That week they had done 3 living donor txs that week alone. It was a wonderful ceremony. The lead donor surgeon talked about us being heros and 4 people who were either donors or recipients spoke. One girl who had donated to her dad spoke about how because she had done it her dad was able to walk her sister down the isle and hold his first grandchild. There was not a dry eye. The first liver/kidney recipient in the world was there and he spoke about his 2 nieces were his donors. They gave us each a beautiful plaque. All the donors had red rose corsages and the recpients had white on so as you walked around you could see who was who. There were about 70 donors there. They did a montage of pictures of donors and recipients to music that was great. Martileedeubert wrote: Best wishes for Fred to get well soon ! Dang ,

I hope I didn't curse him. I just had to bring BUBBA up. Poor Fred. They've been everywhere... ugh. Love the squirt gun mental image. You never cease to crack me up. The use of depend in your sentence using Depends was perfect. LOL!

I hope to see you all again. I did enjoy you both so!

I hope everything else is going smoothly for you all.

Love and blessings to you both,

Your sense of humor is always a joy. I'm so glad they have figured out what is going on, so that they can work on getting all under control. My son had endo/colon which sounds similar to Fred's last February - inflamation - gastritis and pancolitis from stem to stern, so to speak.

Take care and best wishes to Fred.

Yes Joanne - sounds EXACTLY like what Fred has. How is now? Any

further attacks? What meds did they give him? So sorry to see a kid go

through this, let alone a grown man (uh, who acts like a kid under the

circumstances. LOL.)

Wife of Energizer Pooping Bunny Fred - he keeps going and going and

going (still going as of 10 minutes ago when I talked to him.)

was treated outpatient with Nexium, Prednisone and Asacol. Took a long time to settle all down - months. Now, he is doing well, with only occasional pain (which has been on-going for about 7 years. Overall, now is a good place (with exception of being a teenager!). Hope Fred is feeling better today!
