It'd been quiet mostly from April until around October of 2007 when it returned with a vengeance. I tried altering my diet somewhat, slathered lotions and potions all over, and took antihistamines daily--all to no avail. I'd clawed welts on my shoulders and arms both while awake and asleep. Since I'd vacationed in the sun last spring and been cycling a lot all last year, I figured my exposure to the sun must have been a contributing factor so I decided to try a tanning bed. I know a few people here use UV light therapy but since I'm vacationing somewhere warm and sunny in March, I figure I'd kill two birds with one stone so to speak (i.e., fake & bake before heading south .... . Well after 3-4 weeks of spending up to 8 min in a tanning bed (no more than twice a week), my itching has drastically been reduced to barely noticeable. As a precaution, I also cover myself with sunblock (only SPF 15) as I really wasn't looking for a tan as much as I was looking for relief from the itching. So I'd certainly recommend trying this approach if you don't have access to the UV light therapy or can't wait for an appointment.
Guest guest
, Thanks so much for your reply. Sounds like I need the sun and when it's not available, I think I will start trying the UV beds or buy myself on of those lights. I'm at an all time high right now with my itching. I was thinking about you and not being too bad from April to October. Exactly like me. So it's got to be the lack of sunshine. Okay, a new plan has hatched for me. UV here I come, my skin will handle that better than this constant scratching open my skin. Karyn > > Hi Karyn > > > > Anyone else get burning skin to go with their itchy skin?
