Guest guest
Oh Cindy, You describe the itch and the need to dig and scratch the itch out. I can hardy even keep my bra on anymore. First thing I do when I get home is take it off. Anything tight or with elastic is such a source of burning itch.... it's driving me mental. I see you take Ambien Cr. My doctor refuses to perscribe any sleep aids what so ever. She says the risk of not waking up is too great when you have this type of liver disease. I crave a good night sleep so badly. My Dr. says the best thing I can do is to get out into the sun. I'm up here in Canada, where it's a while before I'll be able to go outside with short sleeves. So I'm taking off for a souther trip for several weeks to see if that helps. I take Questran as well, I'm not convinced it helps at all with the itching. But since I had a sub-total colectomy last may and suffer with diarrhea, it does help with that.

I take Questran and Rifampin. I've found an extremely low fat (5-10gms per meal, less than 30gm per day) helps best. I also found sunlight to help. I bought an old commercial tanning bed with bulbs that are just under 5% UVB (the wavelength that helps) and find that 8 minutes 2-3 times a week does help. My liver tests aren't even high but I've had PSC a long time (over 20 years). Most of the 'rash like, have to scratch continuously' type itch I don't have much of. More of the pins and needles and the 'snapping and popping' is what bugs me.
Guest guest
B.W. I have been trying to stay on a low fat diet, but I'm terrible with that. Part of my problem is that I lost so much weight after my Colectomy last May, I have been working hard trying to get back up to a reasonable weight for myself. Starting right now, I will concentrate on a very low fat diet... oh how I'll miss my peanut butter. I've thought about buying a UV light, may do that when I get home from my southern trip. Thanks for your input. Karyn
Guest guest
>My Dr told me today that Vit D is very good for you. But first get a test to find out what you Vit D levels are. You can do this through your prim Dr. Also will help with bone loss. LEE G
Guest guest
Yes Vitimin D helps there is no need for test of level. It is also wise to take vitimin c and magisium which helps the Vit d process through the digestive system. This will aid but not prevent bone loss. It has added me for three years and now bone loss is again an issue for me. I am see an econlogist on monday too see if there is more that can be done. hope all is well dianeLee Grilley wrote: >My Dr told me today that Vit D is very good for you.
