Guest guest
We are in the Chicago area. My husband has had PSC for 11 years now. He is under the medical care of Joeseph Geenen in Mil. WI for repeat ERCPs with dilatations, takes Actigall regularly, however he appears to be getting worse. I have heard that many individuals have had success w/alternative and complimentary medicine to manage this disease. I would be interested in finding the best practioner for my husband to consult with. Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
Guest guest
Kate, Many of us here have tried alternative and complementary methods for managing our symptoms and disease with varying degrees of success. I personally have done milk thistle and beets as well as fish oil, which I still take but don't consider " alternative " thanks to Dave . I didn't find any of the other treatments more helpful than my traditional ones (Urso, Cholestyramine, Hydroxizine, Cipro, etc.). That having been said, if you told me that bathing in yak saliva cured the itching, I'd give it a shot. Others can chime in with their experiences. As for other providers, I am on the list at University Hospital in Madison and am very pleased with the care I've received. It's not Chicago or Milwaukee and they're not alternative or complimentary, but they will discuss anything you bring to them and have been very receptive to trying new things. I can provide direct contact info if you desire. Regards, Bill Wise PSC '00, Listed Tx '
