Guest guest Posted November 3, 2008 Report Share Posted November 3, 2008 I have had itching/burning for almost 2 yrs. now. When it first started, I was diagnosed with BV and yeast together. I had never had any problems down there before and didn't expect it would become a huge deal. The treatments didn't seem to help. The problem got worse. I saw numerous gynocologists and several dermatologists. Eventually, I was put on a steroid cream that seemed to at least bring me some relief. Coincidentally, I stopped having my periods at the same time that this problem began. Finally, someone did bloodwork that showed I was menopausal. After lingering around this group for awhile, I decided to try Estriol cream. At the same time, I had been put on Amoxicillin for Bronchitis. Much to my surpise, the itching/burning completely went away! It was gone for an entire 2 wks. Prior to this it was there everyday. I assumed the improvement was from the Estriol, but it returned about a week after stopping the Amoxicillin. I keep using the Estriol and it doesn't seem as though it's helping. :-( It is still better, as I don't have to use the steroid cream, but it's still a little bit itchy. Now I'm not sure if I have some rare infection that the Amoxicillin helped, or I just need more Estriol? I am at my wits end with this thing! I would really appreciate any thoughts or advice.
