They can sing each of the songs you've mentioned by heart. We also have loads of Dr Demento and those are my children's favorite Christmas albums. We Wish You Weren't Living With Us -- to the tune of We Wish You a Merry Christmas is a favorite, closely followed by Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire (Alvin, of course). They can also recite much of the dialogue from Blazing Saddles and Young enstein, Airplane, and the Princess Bride. Not to mention the Python skit about the Penguin on the telly ... and we have 2 penguins sitting on our telly all the time. If anyone asks why ... well, I won't go into the routine, but they would. Plus I have a Christmas nativity people by penguins, which is placed reverently onto the telly each year. (where else?!) They vie for the honor of unwrapping it and putting it up in its place. Proof positive that we have corrupted these young minds beyond all hope of salvation, LOL. Jill

Guest guest
OMG Kris - my Tom LOVES Weird Al and keeps asking about the songs that are being parodied. I loved the movie Sky High - I thought it was hysterical and Kurt was the dad and lynda was the principal! I was laughing out loud at that! When she said to one of the kids " Who do you think I am, Wonder Woman " I nearly lost it! Guest guest
I'm sure the folks at Netflix think we are schizophrenic. I get stuff like Blazing Saddles, Airplane, my all time favorite " The Big Bus " , not to mention the Pink Panther (the old ones.) My husband orders action and suspense stuff. But we are both particular fans of Monty Python. When we see an accident we say " Call the church, call the police, call the church police. " And cooking hamburgers on the grill always propels us to the Cheese Shop dialogue - Do you in fact, have any actual cheese in this shop?? And my husband was a philosopphy major so " Baldwin Bruce " and the Philisopher's drinking song (ex Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, I drink therefore I am) are his personal favorites. Our kids do not see the humor in Monty Python and they think we are crazy because we are laughing so hard that tears come out of our eyes. Guest guest
My Tom last year entered the school's talent show with 3 friends doing a Monty Python routine - it was the one about the old men one-upping each other and they won! It was hysterical... pcknott@... wrote: > I'm sure the folks at Netflix think we are schizophrenic. I heard the Weird Al Star Wars song on it the other day, and although I really know nothing about Star Wars, I found it funny. favorite song on there is " I Ate Too Many Beans " . I foolishly laughed at the lyrics one day so I had to explain them to her. Now she laughs too and has to tell everyone about that song...including our church's religious ed director. My favorite station is the broadway musical one, so Jill I think your kids would fit in well here. Mine can't stand it. I have lots of musicals on CD. One of my current favorites is " Avenue Q " . It's just hard to listen with the kids around (which they almost always are) because the songs topics are much more of an adult theme and I do not want to explain those songs just yet (But my oh my is it funny). The adults they got to participate are just so wonderfully cast - I just loved the fact that there were *two* actors from " Kids in the Hall " , not to mention Kurt and Lynda . It's got a really good message about how to treat people with different strengths and weaknesses in life, too. Kris

Learn to live with disappointment. (the sword fighting scene where Inigo needs to know who the masked man really is). And our teenagers groan and say " I knew you were going to say that! I think we put this one into my husband's Easter basket. Whatever the excuse was to buy it, it was actually bought for the hubby, not the kids. We also laughed our way through it, laughing at things our kids didn't get. We just got the Maguyver (spelling?) series on DVD. Ian likes it, of course, and now he understands why I always tease my hubby about his pocket knife and duct tape. (grin) Jill

I saw it at both BJs and Sam's clubs. It's just the first year of the series, I think. You could probably get it at Amazom.com as well. I got it at BJs -- a place that's like Sam's, but is only in the northeast, I think. Jill
