Guest guest
I can not remember the web sites that I read, but there are sites that give you helpful info about things to do before you apply for Social Security Disability. My only advise to you is this.....BE PREPARED FINANCIALLY for the wait before you receive Social Security. I had to quit work when I was not prepared to. My works Insurance gaveme a difficult time. They 1st denied me my Short Term Disability, they said I could work...I appealed their decision..then they said I was TOTALLY DISABLED...after they denied me the Long Term Disability they said my illness was a pre-existing condition. I went some months without any income...thank god I had begun to save (just not long enough). I finally got my back pay from Short term, had to use it to pay off all the credit cards I maxed out....etc etc....... I am currently broke and fear April because of the bills I will not be able to pay, scared and live alone with no one to help me. PLEASE.....be prepared!!!! Social Security Can take a long time...for me it will be 1 yr. this April since I applied and I am still waiting for a hearing. MY ADVICE .............PREPARE YOURSELF!!!! Start Today! Guest guest
That was great advice. Another thing they suggest is to know what EXACTLY is in your medical records. They said to make sure the doctor in fact wrote down Diagnosis Fibromyalgia. They said it does help to get DXed by a Rheumatologist. I have 3 doctors who all agreed that I do have fibro. What's stopped me from applying is I have Major Depressive Disorder, then Fibro. The MOST I would get right now is $300/month. I have 3 kids. My hubby is the bread winner. It would put a cap on his earnings too. I don't want that. I work at home and am in training to be a life coach. That's my answer. I don't want to depend on a flimsy government structure. I think it's wonderful we can apply and win though. If they would give it to me, It would be for the Depression a mental health check. I don't want that. Plus, I don't qualify because I pay child support, and owe some student loans.

Plus, I don't qualify because > I pay child support, and owe some student loans. > I did find it interesting that when my primary care doctor got the paper work to fill out, she asked me to come to her office and we went over the form together. She had been one of the doctors I had gone to for 4 or 5 years after we moved to where we are now and then they closed the office and she took time to spend with her children, so I then saw two other docs in another office, and basically Katharine and I just reviewed my history. It was very funny when the SSD doctor read her report, he said " it looks like she used the form they sent her! " Duh???? But as I said in another post, I got cut, smart mouth with the psychologist --- I have seen so many of them that it's beyond being funny when they start their little tests --- count back from a 100 using 7 each time! Well, gee! the first time it is 93, the second time, you subtract mentally 3 from 93 and get 90 so then you subtract 4 from 90 and the 2nd number is 86. Quite frankly, I found it all so farcial and thought the docs were working for the SS dept because they really didn't have that many patients!! But despite my smart answers, it was determined that I really was disable. And for me that's all that counted. I know that most people do it on their own the first time, but I had heard of so many people going through it 2 times and then getting a lawyer, I didn't think it was worth wasting the time. So I only spoke to the adjudicator twice, the rest of the time he had to call Allsup in Belleville, Illinois and get his answers.
Guest guest
I was in the medical field when I became disabled, I made sure I had every record of any doctors I ever seen and the regression I was going through. I was lucky I got the son of the guy who wrote the guidelines for social security guidelines. When I went to him he said I had all the information he need the first time. He had never seen anyone who had it. I have also been told that Fibro is a disablity diagnosis. If you need anything, you can IM me. My husband is a state employee and what I am getting has nothing to do with what he can or cannot earn, I have never heard of anyone's spouse having a cap on their income!!! I have several friends who receive disability and THAT has no effect on their spouses earnings!
Guest guest
Owing student loans and paying child support have nothing to do with ssd or ssi for that matter. Ssi would cap your husbands income because that is for disability but has income guidelines. Ssd is insuranace based on your earnings. If you have not met the earnings eligiblity you would not be eligible for it but would be eligible for ssi. I am not eligable for ssi because of the proacyive retirement options my husband and I have. JudyMrt ---- wrote: > > > > I My hubby is the bread winner. It would put a cap on his > > earnings too.
