Hate Crimes - 2009 statistics released

Crimes committed against the disabled are consider to be Hate Crimes. The stats below reflect only the crimes that were reported... The Department of Justice released the 2009 Hate Crimes Statistics. There were 6,604 hate crimes in 2009, a decrease from 7,783 in 2008. However, the number of hate crimes against a person with a disability increased from 0.9% (85) in 2008 to 1.5% (97) in 2009.
