Guest guest Posted December 2, 2010 Report Share Posted December 2, 2010 In response to recent requests, the Cadenza Center staff is pleased to announce the creation of a therapeutic winter break program specifically for children and teens ages 4 – 17 with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. This intimate, small-group program is run by experienced clinicians who specialize in working with this population. Incorporating behavior therapy strategies to support each individual’s optimal success and participation, our clinicians will facilitate a therapeutic experience that incorporates music and art therapy, play therapy, and social skills training. Dates: Monday – Thursday December 20 – 23; December 27 - 30 Programming from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Supervised play from 8:30 – 9:00 and 3:30 – 5:00 available at no additional charge. Cost: Half Day: $80/day (til 12:00); $300 per week; sibling discounts are available Full Day: $130/day; $475 per week Registration: $30 per child Optional Individual Therapies Available: Play Therapy; Music Therapy; Creative Expression/Art Program participants will take part in three small group interventions each day consisting of music therapy, art therapy, theatre/drama, social skills/play therapy, and life skills training. Participants will engage in interactive activities designed to promote development of social communication skills (turn-taking, reciprocity, perspective taking, body language recognition) while fostering resiliency and promoting independence. Examples of lessons include making friends, inviting a fiend to play, coping with conflict, waiting for your turn, complimenting others, joining and leaving a conversation and more. Direct programming will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Active play time outside is planned daily at the park across the street (weather permitting).
