Hi Tigger- How are things in Rhode Island? My husband, and bro-in-law. are

waiting for the Marine weather to change from here in ME., to get down that way

to start there scallop season, We are awaiting another storm,,No fishing no

income! I hope this is it. But anyway just curious to find out what happened

with you and the pain specialist you saw, as I know I am heading there, and the

first experience with just the initial call with the place my Dr. wants me to go

to was awful, and I have not looked that way again, that was a yr. ago! The

front office was so poor, rude, and put me in such a maddening state, that I

wonder if this is the attitude of the Dr. behind them, as I was always taught no

matter how you feel, think etc. when working a Dr. office the fromt office is

the most important impression you make on a PT, and someone calling for an appt.

is always calling for a reason so remember this, they are anxious, not feeling

well, etc. so always treat them kindly,

no matter how u feel when the call comes in. Anyway, I am assuming whomever

you saw was no help to your pain issues? Hope you lighter days. Take Care

Storm just starting here! Sharon

Sherry,

Long before I was dx'd with fibro, I had those mysterious low back

pains, back spasms, etc., and for a long time, flexeril worked (10

mg) because it wasn't that often. Then I started to notice that

before I could vacuum/mop, I would have to take one and before I was

done, I would have to take a 2nd one to be able to finish.

When my PCP (no dx yet) heard that, they gave me robaxin, which

helped a little bit more. Also, naproxyn (sp?) for inflammation and

as a last resort, darvocet (which I literally only take as a last

resort).

I got dx'd January '08 by a rheum and he started me on lyrica (low

dose 75 mg 2x/day) for 2 weeks. I did not notice any sides except the

initial few days when I felt " punch drunk " like many on this list.

Since that time, I am up to the 150 mg 2x a day and not noticing too

many side effects (drowsiness, etc.).

Of course, every single one of us is different. Your doctor may have

to tinker and tweak your meds. The best person to speak with is your

doctor. None of us want to be a zombie and merely travel thru life,

we all want to live the best possible life we can, dealing with this

disease, which attacks each one of us a little differently and yet oh

so much the same, its scary.

I hope that helps; wanted to give you my experiences.....

Sharon,

Where do they fish? There are so many fishermen in Newport and my husband and

kids know many of them. My kids, grandkids and husband just fish for fun. My

father does a kids fishing day with his gun club every year. My oldest has

actually gone spear fishing with some of his friends. I remember when my

daughter was little that she went fishing and caught a lobster. I still can't

believe it.

The rain here is crazy. It's been going on since yesterday off and on . When it

rains it is heavy downpours. When it ends I'll be in big trouble because there

is an underground river that flows below my house. As all that water drains it

will rise and hopefully not to much as the waterpump will be working ot in my

basement.
