Accepting Nominations for the 6th Annual JoLeta Reynolds Award

LRP Publications once again is seeking out individuals in the field who demonstrate dedication, excellence and integrity in serving children with special needs and their families. Nominate a colleague who fits this description for the 6th Annual JoLeta Reynolds Service to Special Education Award. The award recognizes individuals who have had an impact on the quality of special education services through any combination of leadership, instruction, special projects, innovation, management, program design and improvement. It is named in honor of JoLeta Reynolds, a former senior policy advisor under the assistant secretary of education -- and a friend and an advisor to hundreds of special educators and administrators throughout the country -- who died in 2010 after a seven-year battle with cancer. Reynolds played a key role in the 1997 and 2004 IDEA reauthorizations and helped develop the law's implementing regulations. Award winners will be recognized at and receive complimentary registration to LRP's 32nd Annual National Institute on Legal Issues of Educating Individuals with Disabilities®, held May 1-4, 2011, at the Phoenix Convention Center.
