Not every student pursues CLE immediately after high school; some students, such as , try to pursue college independently and find they need assistance. We also work with students, like Brittany, who currently live at home but are in the process of transitioning to post-secondary education and independent life. Many of our students attend CLE from around the world, Ben is one of them. We look forward to this time of year and the opportunity to meet new students interested in pursuing their own path and hope to be a resource to all families in their transition planning. Amy RadochonskiVice President, CLE In This Issue Summer Program Dates Announced!Great Clubs Can Lead To Passionate CareersFAQ's of Higher Education CLE Expanding Summer Program Due to the resounding success of the CLE Denver, Colorado Summer Exploration, which is a three week experience that offers potential students a preview of the full College Living Experience environment, we are excited to offer a second summer program option, in a first time available "day program" format in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida June 13-July 1, 2011. Open to potential students in the South Florida area, it is perfect for those transitioning to post-secondary education and life after high school. The new day program experience offers the same exciting opportunities to live the lifestyle that CLE provides and to make an educated decision on the next steps in their life, while living at home. CLE-Denver continues its successful overnight programming with its fifth Summer Exploration being held June 26-July 16, 2011. Students from around the country will travel to Denver and live in dormitories to get a preview of college life. Summer Exploration at both locations allow students to attend classes on a college campus, learn to navigate the surrounding communities, manage the essentials of personal organization, nutrition, cooking, and cleaning while enjoying numerous social and recreational activities and making new friends. Great Clubs Can Lead To Passionate Careers At CLE Austin, we have recently created a video game design club that will not only showcase student's talents but will sculpt their skills in the field of technology, while having fun. With guidance from Torrente, a full time tutor and IT coordinator at CLE Austin, our students will be developing and creating their own video game. Teamwork ~ A Necessary Skill for the Future Students are working as a team, with present for support, and ultimately driving the decisions being made for the game development. "While our ultimate goal is to build a video game, the club puts quite a bit of focus on teamwork and building solutions that are devised from the input of the entire group." says Torrente. In addition to polishing skills in teamwork and compromise & game design, programming and drawing, students get to problem solve and work together in an environment outside the classroom setting.
