Guest guest
hi, iv been on here for a little while. Im just wondering if anyone else is experianceing this and if you think it is from the fibro or another problem. I know you all are not doctors just looking for your opinions. Ok, for the last 4-5 days my neck is soo stiff, not my normal pain I ALWAYS have, this is new. I cant even turn my head to the left. Also I have a sharp pain that starts in the back of my head,on the left side ,by the base of my scull and shoots down to right next to my left shoulder blade if I even move. My pain meds and muscle relaxers dont even tough this. any suggestions are welcome. I just dont want to go in to the doctor for them to look at me like im some kind of idiott. I think Im already doing what they would, and dont want to waste time and money for nothing. Thanks~you guys are awesome~~
Guest guest
, I think you should call the dr and tell them you've been using your mrds with no relief. PT may be needed. Have you been applying heat and doing gentle stretching exercises. Massage may be needed. you may have pinched a nerve or sprain/strained the muscle. I have had that problem prior to my dx 2x. I've had to wear one of those soft cervical collars so I wouldn't put more stress on the area during my normal day. (I was teaching preschool) Currently, I'm trying to recover from a hip strain/sprain. They had to give me strong muscle relaxers and stronger pain pills and put me on bedrest to help it heal. I find I just take a long time to heal. I can't sit very long yet and the cold makes setbacks. Goodluck and keep us informed. Guest guest
You better get to your doctor hun. It sounds to me like a pinched nerve. If you wait too long it could cause a lot of damage. I've been dealing with this for over 10 years and now I have another one. I'm waiting for my MRI as we speak. Gail
Guest guest
I get neck and shoulder pain alot of times. My neck is always stiff, but not to the extent you are describing. I suppose it is probably part of fibro because sometimes I will get an attack where my neck and right shoulder blade will hurt and shoot pain down the right arm. (nerve compression I guess). Just be sure you are not running fever. And it would be best to probably seek some medical attention to be sure. I do know that one of the signs of meningitis is a very stiff neck. (I think it is the fibro though)... please dont be alarmed. However it sounds like you can't move your neck because of the pain. I think with meningitis it is not pain in the neck but just stiffness. hugs, Debra V. mommy3xkittell wrote: hi, iv been on here for a little while. Guest guest
, I too would recommend seeing a doctor is it's something out of the ordinary. Better to be safe than sorry. /Mi
Guest guest
Hi , I had this same type of thing a while back--the pain was really bad and my head was even tilted to the side and I couldn't straighten it. I had it for two days. I tried going to a chiropractor, but they couldn't do anything. They took x-rays and it looked so wierd. You could see my spine and then my neck was several inches over and didn't look like it lined up! Anyway they said it was a huge muscle spasm with all the neck muscles and they gave me muscle relaxants, which didn't work They then gave me several injections in my neck and that along with the muscle relaxants gradually worked. If it is the same thing, I certainly feel sorry for you. I could not move without excruciating pain. I couldn't drive since I couldn't turn my head and every little bump was excruciating. I hope you are better by now. Take Care JANA Re: hi everyone~a pain in my neck , I too would recommend seeing a doctor is it's something out of the ordinary. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, you are describing me to the tee! My right shoulder blade is my main pain, but I have the stiff neck all the time too! I have been seeing a chiropractor for a couple years trying to get the stiff neck limbered up a bit, it helps some for a while then I am stiff again. I was wondering if this stiff neck was part of this stuff as well. Still learning! And today, I am feeling a bit better than the past couple days, but I cannot type worth a dang! Guest guest
I have had bad right shoulder pain for several years now, mostly in my rotator cuff area. Lately have been getting sharp pains around my shoulder blade and it's worse when I am driving. Don't get stiff necks much unless I sleep on my stomach too long. Then will take an extra Neurontin since I don't have a muscle relaxant. Any type heat treatment is good for shoulder pain.
