Guest guest
Hello, hope all is well. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wanted some feedback on hyperbaric chamber therapy. Has anyone used it for their child? Any success story? I will be starting my son tomorrow. He got his evaluation today and tomorrow will be his first session. Im a little nervous and paying out of pocket makes me even more nervous. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. Yesenia
Guest guest
We have been doing HBOT for two months now and we are starting to see some great changes in our son. The first change we noticed and rather quickly was his calmness. Our son is not hyper, but he is extremely busy. The HBOT seems to slow him down a bit. The next significant change we noticed around hour 22 was he began to string together longer sentences using new vocabulary and his speech was more understandable. He seemed to mumble a lot before, but now we can understand almost all of his words. We were fortunate enough to purchase a chamber for a great price from another family and so we have been taking our time and putting in six hours a week instead of the 12 hours a week our DAN doctor recommends his clients do if they are renting the machine or going to a facility and paying by the hour. I intend to do this therapy indefinitely as I have received great benefit from it as well. My body was seemingly falling apart before I began the therapy and now my knees and back are almost brand new! I have nothing but great things to say about HBOT, but it is time consuming and expensive. I think it is cheaper to rent the machines by the month and do them at home rather than to go to a center so you might look into that. Good luck! If you need any advise I will be glad to help. Guest guest
Hi ladies!! (and father's too of course) I noticed the emails concerning Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and definitely wanted to add a comment. I have lots of positive words to say about HBOT, but will try to be brief. My son was diagnosed with autism at 2 1/2, and after starting the GF/CF diet, HBOT was one of the first and most effective therapies we implemented. After getting such amazing results (ie: words became sentences, fully potty trained, more eye contact, quicker reaction times, etc), we quickly realized it would be more cost effective to rent or buy a chamber, so we bought one. We do intervals of 20 session groupings and will then "take a break" by doing 3-4 x week. My son has since lost his diagnosis and is in a regular school and was actually placed in a higher grade than his age due to academic excellence. I consider Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy the second most effective therapy that helped my son next to prayer. I now have a great relationship with the manufacturers of the portable Hyperbaric Chambers and can totally help anyone who is wanting to rent or perhaps purchase a unit for their home, and they're not as expensive as you might think. And God knows, the therapy schedule of a family dealing with autism is just insane, so having the chamber in your home is sooooo convenient. Please feel free to email me offline at drwanda2000@..., or call me at . I will be happy to answer any questions concerning Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as well as my son's journey. God Bless you guys, and I look forward to chatting with you. Here's to amazing gains in 2011!! Sincerely, Wanda Glemaud Hyperbaric chamber Hello, hope all is well. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Guest guest
Yes, he gets OT, Speech, and ABA therapy in addition to HBOT, dietary interventions and we follow the DAN protocol. We are very busy as you can see but we find the hour a day we spend in the chamber to be relaxing and it is a good time to read to your child or just lay quietly beside each other and enjoy the silence and togetherness. We added the HBOT after all of the other therapies seemed to be getting stagnant and the HBOT just really pulls it all together and gives us the extra something we were missing. Guest guest
That's great for you both. How do you know though that it was the HBOT that kicked it all in? I'm only curious, not judging. I just know that its extremely expensive. I'm so happy that everything is coming together, you're a terrific mom and I know you both work hard for the progress. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Great question! Really a combination of the two. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy exposes the person to pressurized oxygen, thus allowing greater absorption of oxygen throughout body tissues. This increased pressure allows more oxygen to reach the cells within the body thus contributing to the many healing and therapeutic benefits. I truly feel that the anti inflammatory benefits of HBOT are at the core of all the other side benefits as inflammation is present in many if not all illnesses and disorders. And many studies have found brain inflammation present in autism possibly resulting from oxidative stress, toxicity, neuronal damage, infection, etc. or more than likely a combination of all of these. Reducing inflammation allows more nutrients to be delivered to the cells, tissues, and hence organs so that all potentially function better. This blood and plasma flow allows for increased hydration, oxygenation, and even a stimulation of detoxification as in the presence of oxygen many pathogens (which tend to hold captive heavy metals for protection) cannot survive. I hope this helps. Please feel free to call me at if I can help further. Wanda Hyperbaric chamber Hello, hope all is well. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wanted some feedback on hyperbaric chamber therapy. Guest guest
We have been doing all the other therapies and interventions for the past two years and the progress had plateaud, but when we added the HBOT the changes were spectacular; too many to mention. Compared to the 40,000.00 a year we spend on ABA therapy, the HBOT is cheap. Hyperbaric chamber Hello, hope all is well. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wanted some feedback on hyperbaric chamber therapy. Guest guest
I have heard of families buying a chamber together and rotating it every couple of weeks between them. It saves a lot of money, and I hear it is good to take a break every couple of weeks anyway. If anyone is interested in doing this, I would be willing to do it! It is one of the therapies I've been wanting to do for my son. Anyone interested? We live in Hollywood. Guest guest
Good morning all, and Happy Friday!! Several mommies have contacted me offline concerning the rental and/or purchase of a mild pressure Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, and I see that others are considering perhaps getting together to purchase a chamber to share. Just wanted to share with you what the costs usually like. The primary chamber I rent out is the Viateris 320 by Oxyhealth. It's their largest portable chamber (fits me and both of my kids ages 5 and 7), and is the primary chamber used in most of the autism studies with Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen.. The costs are as follows: Used unit: 3k security deposit (refundable upon return and inspection of chamber) $2,150.00/monthly rental $850.00 roundtrip Shipping and Handling New unit: 6k security deposit (refundable upon return and inspection of chamber) $3,000.00/monthly rental $850.00 roundtrip Shipping and Handling The retail cost of this chamber is approximately $19,900, and they also have 2 smaller units avilable for a lesser charge, but usually we mommies or daddys get in the chamber with our children, so the larger unit is really most comfortable. Oxyhealth also has an in house financing option available now which involves a down payment and monthly payments for 12 months with no interest. I will be happy to present scenarios to Oxyhealth on your behalf or to answer any questions. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is such an amazing addition to our synergistic approach toward improving the lives of our children. Have an awesome day, and feel free to email me over the weekend. I will be in a Nutrition Semminar all weekend, but will email back when I get a break! Sincerely, Wanda Glemaud,CNC ps. A great resource website about mild Hyperbaric Oxygen is www.hbotreatment.com , click on "conditions", and then on "autism". There are quite a few clinical studies posted there. Good reading. Guest guest
Helen and Sue, It makes more sense to me to purchase, if we can get 3 families together to split the costs. For me, to give it a good trial I would want to do at least 40-50 dives to see if he's a responder according to the studies done. That would mean 2 months of rental - which for a new unit would be $6,000 plus $850 shipping. If 3 families bought a chamber for $20,000 it would be around $6,600 per family. Then perhaps we could rotate it every 3-4 weeks, and avoid the shipping if can pick it up ourselves. That would mean each family would get roughly around 4 months a year. I'm really bad at math, but it seems like its better to buy a unit for the same price as a 2 month rental with shipping would cost. I know it is a big investment, but we are seriously considering it, since the side effects are minimal compared to a lot of other treatments out there. After doing your research and discussing it, if anyone is serious and wants to get in touch with me you can email me at shiriw@... and then we can exchange phone #'s. Any success story? I will be starting my son tomorrow. He got his evaluation today and tomorrow will be his first session. Im a little nervous and paying out of pocket makes me even more nervous. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.> > > > > > Yesenia> > >> >>
