Hey, I wonder if you are talking about the same thing I went to before, First

of all I am probably your mother, not literally LOL, but I have been like this

30 yrs ago, but also got treated like I was a hypercondriac, nutty, panicky,

worrier all of it, and sent home each time with bone renching pain, causing me

to develope panic attacks, anxiety and all that,which did not need to happen,

after all the pain I could of dealt with but when the panick attacks and anxiety

set in, it stayed for yrs, and I was trying to raise 3 sm. children with a

husband who worked driving truck from one state to another. I was scared to

death I was going to die while home alone with these beautiful little kids who

needed me, so I use to pray whatever was wrong with me just let me live to have

them grow up and not have to be without a mom so young! So I made it, but I am

mad that all this time no one new this existed, my symptoms were real and I

could of been a better mom if they had just

helped me. Anyway here we are, But I want to respond to make sure you

understand as I also have been to a Pain specialist, and they wanted me to drive

there 1 hr away from home into unknown territory, my husband took me first

trip, Boston area, which I don't do, and they wanted me to come 4 days a week,

for all types of therapy , which most I had done, but this was to be done all 4

days from 8a to 4p and go through PT OT utra sound, blah blah blah. I told them

the anxiety of thinking of driving there and back would not be good, and would

surely undo any tension that may get released after TX trying to drive home in

the commuter traffic. Anyway just to clarify, this is a pain specialist type.

Then there are the Pain Clinc's. and management Centers depending what part of

the country your from, this treats with usually heavier pain med's. Oxcycontin,

Methadone, Morphine, and are prescribed after evaluation, plus Primary referal

for being sent there, etc.. Others have

posted saying not all Pain Clinic's deal with this, well I am familiar with the

Pain Clinic's before Dr. told me it may be time I go there and get a stronger

med as I am in way to much pain to long now, as before I was told and realized I

can not work anymore, I worked in the healthfield and this was incorperated in

our training days. So just wondered if you know there is a difference as I have

never had anyone go to a Pain Clinic and be told they need to correct posture,

do PT, and that. Still I wish you find pain relief

somewhere, and keep in mind he ER option, as sometimes they will recommend a Dr.

who will help,if you tell your story about that Jerk.

usually treat with a different type of med, do not like to see us on ongoing

pain med's and if so have you be under the control of your PCP. I now am making

the decision whether I want to go to a Pain Clinic, as I have been dependent

different then addicted to pain and muscle med's without them now I can not move

without severe pain, but they don't eliminate the pain, only sometime make it

more bearable to get out of bed which I need to do, for more reason then one, I

have had one to many blood clots that scare me, I don't want to become bed

ridden, so these med's have been the only TX right now to keep me going. But

again due to either having to go up to a stronger narcotic, increase the dose, I

will eventually have to move to a pain clinic for closer observation. I have

awsome Dr's also, who believe in my disease have seen me at my worst, and don't

want me in pain. Alot of the other

med's I had bad side effects. But I understand when it is time for the Dr. I

have to say if I still need to take the pain meds I have to decide I will go to

the pain clinic as they are not in jeapordy like Primary/Rhuemo's are of getting

into trouble for handing out med/s and not sending us out for re-eval by the

experts. Just to warn you and not upset things worse, don't be surprised if the

Rhuemotologist won't re-prescribe the pain med, mine has known me and my family

all my life her mom was my pediatrician, and she is excellent, very easy going,

but she does not like me long term on the pain med's but because the other meds

all have tried me on she understands wants me to limit as much as possible but I

have not been able to, does not believe in one being in pain, but also says they

are not meant to be the ones to prescribe pain med long term and that is why my

Primary has done it,and I know soon I will have to decide I will go to a pain

clinic as they believe I now

need a stronger med then Vicodin but I am not ready to go there, In mean time I

suggest if pain is unbearable go to ER for shot, as I have had to do this

several times, when I could not get out of pain even with my med;s and could not

bear to put weight on my legs at least it is a break for several hrs. I hope it

all works out for you, but just want you to maybe have some back up plans incase

the Rheumo won't prescribe either, as keep in mind they are going to have your

record of why you were referred and stopped by the jerk who you saw and stopped

the med;s, and I would not go back and would definitley not let his comment go

without letting him know. Take Care I hope you will get some relief as I don't

know what I would do waiting for appt with no pain relief inbetween. Sharon
