Guest guest
Hi all, I took my son out of Heritage/American Academy because he was failing half his classes and based on my IEP meeting at Cypress Bay I concluded he was in the wrong environment (far behind on social skills and life skills). When I met with AA in February/March to inform them I was removing him from the school, they recommended I wait to receive his report card for the year before I make a final decision. I did not receive the report card and spoke to the guidance counselor who confirmed he failed half his classes anyway. I knew I would forfeit the enrollment fee. They are now suing me for the tuition for this academic year because I was supposed to tell them he was not returning by June 1. I explained to the business office I met with school administration and was waiting for his report card based on a decision made at that meeting and therefore did not have the information I needed to make a decision by June 1. They basically said too bad, not their problem. What a nightmare! Any advice would be appreciated. I have to respond within 20 days. By the way, the notice was delivered to my son - a minor (age 17) with autism, as we were not home!
