Guest guest
The local FCC's have the knowledge of what your areas needs are... the chair or someone appointed goes to the state meeting every other month. The next one is January. It is near the Orlando airport. Right now your chair fly's up to the meeting and back; airport. Shuttles to hotel. You can stay one or two nights...this is paid out of your budget...you get $9,000 locally to vote how you choose to spend it. The decisions being made in Tallahassee need family voices... lots of changes are being made and the families attending are families who have older children so the older voice needs are being heard. Right now Tally hears that the school system is fulfilling all the people with disabilities needs under age 22... if this is not true they need your voices.. the voices from families come from FCC's Also from my friend , who is an FCC-chair and also travels to the state meetings. . . . yes you can... The child care staff that does the special needs unit at the park district watches the kids.. your park district should have a special needs contact person... check with special Olympics too see if they want to offer some of their volunteers because they are already screened..also some of your support companies might want to volunteer so they can PR with families for business...respite company support in home company... EVERY FAMILY on the wait list who has a child on Medicaid should be getting PCA 2 to 4 hours of support a day. DID ANYONE ELSE KNOW THIS?
