Guest guest
I used Mavis Beacon teaches typing w/ my son. You can set the level of difficulty up or down on it. Another program that is free is at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/ It is good for little kids. A cartoon goat takes them through 4 levels and it is actually a fun little program. Guest guest
I taught my son ty type using "Type to Learn 3"; this was a while ago, but it was a wonderful program and provided positive feedback. It was a struggle to get him to practice, but we did it, using a timer and I would sit with him and he'd practice for 30 minutes a day. We had a rewards chart and he received a sticker for each day he practiced and at the end of every week, he'd "earn" a trip to Mc's or TV time as a reward for his hard work. Guest guest
As an OT I have used Mavis Beacon. I have also used small wrist weights, and rings with the home keys to wear on the child's fingers for them to associate which finger to use. After all this - my own child prefers the 2 fingers on each hand approach but is fast - go figure.
