Guest guest
It totally depends on the chiro and drs. There are some that are far better than any doc I've ever had and vice versa. I've had so horrible ones too. I'm getting in line to deck this one for you also!!!!!!! WHAM! ~Jennie **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
WARNING: The following post could contain some offensive adult language. If you are easily upset by that type of post please stop reading now. I've been having severe problems with my right lower back and hip, on top of my upper back between my shoulders and the muscles over my ribs being in almost constant spasm. Since the thing started with my lower back and right hip and leg I've barely been able to walk - so I decided to see a chiropractor. He was a young guy, in his early 30's. We talked for a few minutes about my pain and my history of back pain and surgery and told him I believe I have FMS. Without hesitation he looked at me and said that I did not, because I did not display the appropriate emotional charactics of someone with FMS, although I was indeed the right race, age, sex, and color to be a prime candidate. I asked what he meant and he said, " Well, you appear too level-headed. " So I asked how FMS people were and he used the term (and I kid you not) D-R-A-M-A -- Q-U-E-E-N. When he got through with his descriptive spiel he added, " see, if you were the fibromyalgia type, you'd have never let me get through that long explanation without a million interruptions about yourself and your pain. I worked hard to hide my annoyance. I wanted to be able to walk better by that evening - I had a class to go to, and didn't want to creep/limp my old fat ass into the room with all those 19 year olds. Later, as he rambled on about his (and obviously those that taught him) opinion about FMS he used the word PSYCHOSOMATIC, and went into a long discussion trying to correlate middle-aged women with incomes below 40,000 and FMS. <yawn><bullshit><yawn> I really don't have much more to say about that except that I'm becoming very discouraged with the medical community in my neck of the woods. I saw my primary care physician back in early January for a cold and tried to discuss FMS with him, but he always just blows off my pain complaints. About the FMS when I brought it up - he said that it was just a cluster of symptoms that were labeled FMS when diagnostic tests didn't prove it was an identifiable disease. That was it, end of discussion. They both can consider their asses fired. in Louisiana

Guest guest
While I dislike chiropractics in general, I have actually had good luck with one. i have one I have seen for years because I have a loose hip, although he is very... not the normal chiropractor. Lol. the moment he found out I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, his reaction was the complete opposite of your chiros, and he has known me for years, knows I have pain.. of all sorts.. etc.. His response was basically something to the affect of " That would certainly explain alot of things, and maybe we can get some answers now. How did your PCM react? " Vs.. Oh well you dont complain enough. Hello, we live with pain every day. Yea we have pity parties now but if i spent every moment of every day complaining.. ... I may have a pity party soon.. Im getting tired of being tired. Lol. *hhuuuuuggggs* im sorry he was such a jerk. Good for you for finding a new one! If your doc wont help you.. its time for a new doc! Thats why we have the legal right to second opinions! > Thanks, Faithy. You are damn right I am a DRAMA QUEEN what choice do we have? You probably didn't interrupt him because he couldn't his mouth long enough. Mister Master mind. Guys we have got to start reporting these so called medical people that went to school for what a cough and a cold or in the case of the chiropractor crack a back or too and not get involved in the care that you desperately need. I any of you wnat to send me names and addresses of these physicians rhuematologists pain management or chiropractor. That are giving all of us hard times.. I would appreciate it . Maybe and I can come up with either compiling a list of the ones who do not help us. And it would be in a form letter no names mentioned. It is up to you guys? Guest guest
You are welcome, ....one of the chiro's I had took exrays..but the chiro exrays are NOT the kind of exrays that find deep trouble...like a CT or an MRI....that is one of the reasons that I quit going to chiro's....I know that there ARE chiros who have great references..but I just never had the opportunity it find one...ONE DID happen to clear up my sinuses though, when I went to him for my back. Never helped my back etc., but cleared up my sinuses... Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your support. You guys are the greatest. Lori, before I was in this group I probably would've freaked out on him and had a fit right there giving him a piece of my mind and then cried all the way home. However, after being bolstered with the knowledge of what many of you have had to deal with out of physicians and the like, I was really calm and mostly intrigued as to just exactly how he felt about FMS, and then, just how much BS he would actually divulge. Before the visit I really thought he would be cooperative and helpful about FMS. The website for his office listed fibromyalgia as a condition they worked with and seemed very promising. However, this was just a satellite office of a larger chiropractic corporation who hired this young guy to man their little office in my po-dunk town a couple of days a week. Wish I'd known that before I scheduled. I still find the experience intensely interesting - especially the fact that he just kept on and on, enthusiastically spewing everything he " knew " about FMS. HA! He is really a victim of his instructors' terrible attitudes and teaching. I am sure one day someone he is close to will be stricken with this malady and he will become a believer. He's still young and very inexperienced. I should have asked where he went to chiropractic school. Those are the jerks that need to be horse whipped. Until doctors are instructed from the beginning by caring, informed teachers, we'll be plagued forever by young dumbasses such as these. in Louisiana > I just read this to my husband and it pissed both of us off. Guest guest
Can you believe this CHIROPRACTOR? Wow, , that is unbelievable. He should be reported. They should all be reported. I cannot believe the stuff we, as Fibromites, must go through. What we need is a celebrity to make the world see the light. I'm raving...sorry, but how frustrating. I can sure see how you are fed up with the medical people down there. Hope you can find someone who has a brain. /Mi
Guest guest
Wow I had to step into this one, I have been offline for a few days, lots of pain here, But having a better day and reading! This guy is REALLY SPECIAL!!! I am wondering if he is so into himself and thinks he is so much of all that that he actually thinks that his word is that good! If he only knew that over a thousand women were laughing at him and plotting unthinkable things because of his completely thoughtless and uneducated rambling, he would probably go into hiding! If just a few more docs would take the time to do a bit of research, and take the time to listen, I think we would all be so much better off. Somebody just has to come up with some sort of therapy that will give some of us some relief! Connie in Alaska
