Guest guest
Hi all - having some difficulty with pain in my rib area. I'm kind of frustrated because over the last 2 years I've had 3 different doctors diagnose me with 3 different things. I have a sharp, burning pain right below my left breast on my lower ribs. When I push against it, it hurts worse. There are days when it's really, really bad like yesterday - had to take an extra dose of pain meds and applied heat all day long. Then there are other days when it's not there at all. Wearing a bra hurts - so I generally don't. The frustration is that the three docs said three different things: pleurisy (and gave me antibiotics) - a possible ulcer (and prescribed prevacid) and costochondroits (anti-inflammatories). I am leaning toward the costo from all the reading I've been doing. I know others have experienced this too and would appreciate any opinions or feedback. Thanks, Teri (central Wisconsin)

Guest guest
I have had rib pain too before. I guess it is the costochondritis or just one of fibro's wierd little tricks. I just don't think doctors know what to do with us. I mean sometimes it can be a dislocated rib. Sometimes it can be something else. But I say it is fibro especially since yours comes and goes just like the other pain with fibro moves around our body. Hope you feel better. hugs, Debra V. Guest guest
Debra V, You're right - I don't think the doctors know what to do with us either. My hubby and I were reading up on chest pain last night and it did say that the cause can't always be pin pointed down. It also said that if you have weak bones that it's easy to fracture or break a rib - but in my case I would think then it would hurt all the time if it was fractured or broken, not come and go. Another reason for me to believe its fibro related. Teri (central Wisconsin) Re: Need advice or input please I have had rib pain too before.
