Hi all,

Couldn't two, three (or even more?) families

band together and share the cost of buying

or renting a chamber and share its use?

We would be very interested in participating.

How much does it cost to rent a chamber? Is it monthly charge?

Yes, this idea has been floating around. I have heard of families doing this

successfully in other states. We are very interested! I am willing to purchase

one, if there are at least 3 other parents willing to split the cost. If renting

how would that work? I'd be willing to rent one and share costs while setting up

a schedule.

My email is shiriw@... please email me if you are interested!

I was thinking this as well...and if we donated to a non profit org that would support our use it could be a tax write off as well???

We have a non profit organization Bright Steps Forward that can make the

purchase for you (with a discount) and tax free I believe so that you can take

the tax benefit and hopefully not have to pay the tax. Call me at

to discuss. www.brightstepsforward.org (501c3)

Also remember that Therapies 4 Kids is offering FREE, yes FREE MHBOT for the

months of January and February 2011 so come in if you are in the Fort

Lauderdale / Broward County area.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know I talked to my guy at OxyHealth, and he said he would be glad to honor a 10% discount for all 's List members, so that brings the cost of the Viateris down to $17,910. He also said it would be fine if several people put their credit cards together as I would be doing it through my business and then giving him my busness credit card to do the purchase. As far as the rental goes, you could possibly do the same thing. 2 or 3 people put in equal amounts for the depostit ,1st month's rental, and shipping, and I will put that all on my business card (which the deposit is refundable anyway). I will be happy to help out and present other scenarios, whatever you guys come up with, but this sounds fine to me (and OxyHealth). You will just need to get each other's phone numbers and coordinate with whom you would like to share the rental as well as shipping location. Again, my phone number is . If I am with a client, please just leave me a message, and I will call you back as soon as I can.

Kindest regards,

Hi I've mentioned that my dr recommended i get a SPECT before starting HBOT -

the only response i got was that someone asked what it was - but i'm still

wondering if anyone has done it or what have you done to help you make the

decision to try HBOT - are there any tests that i can do with my son that would

indicate if hbot would be helpful for him? I would really appreciate any

guidance in how one comes to the decision to try hbot thanks!

SPECT Scans indicate the blood flow bringing oxygen to the brain. The child has to lie perfectly still (because any movement can alter the reading) for about 40 minutes (maybe less). They inject the child with a radioactive isotope that highlights the areas of the brain where there is normal blood flow and where there is not. HBOT is one way to get increased blood flow to the brain. If the child cannot stay still then they have to be put to sleep. The SPECT Scan is necessary to help get the insurance company to pay for treatment if you have a PPO plan. Otherwise, your physician might want this for him to scientifically see the improvements from HBOT treatment. For parents you will see the improvement in your child regardless of the SPECT Scan.

HBOT is beneficial for many reasons...it can address the systemic yeast in the tissue in the body, it increases blood flow to the brain, it can revive the idling neurons in the brain, it improves muscle tone, it's calming to the nervous system, it heals wounds, it improves your skin, it improves breathing capacity, some kids even improve cognitive functioning, speech, and language ....HOWEVER, there are two types of HBOT - the hard chamber HBOT in a center that provides 100% oxygen under pressure with an ATA (atmospheric pressure) of usually 1.5 to 1.7 for autism. We are at sea level which is 1.0 or 1.1. - to give you an idea. Now the mild hyperbaric in the bags were originally designed by Dr. Neubauer, the father of HBOT as an adjunct to the hard chamber to keep the existing oxygen levels high between HBOT sessions. The bags have an ATA of 1.3 because there is no pressurized oxygen, therefore many more treatments are required with mild HBOT than with the hard chamber. Please note that improvements are over a period of time after a number of sessions. Sessions in a hard chamber are usually one hour and an ten minutes to bring the pressure down and another added ten minutes to bring the pressure back up. Usually a parent will begin to see significant improvement after 20 sessions. With the hard chamber sessions can be spread out over time.

Hope this helps...

To find out if HBOT is going to be effective for your child all you can do is try it. You will need to make that same leap of faith that the rest of us made when we decided to try it and know that you will need a minimum of 40 hours in the chamber before you will really know, but I started to see real changes in my son around 16 hours. We do one hour a day six days a week. I personally would skip the SPECT scan probably useless.
