Welcome to the group. I am so sorry that I was unable to read your letter

sooner. I had to work today.

I understand what you mean about the pain. The pain is horrible. Some people

just have different degrees of fibromyalgia than others. For the longest time

mine was so mild I did not realize I was sick with anything. For years I was in

no pain, but had chronic " tiredness " and numbness and tingling in my fingers

that would come and go. I found out in later years when it really hit me bad,,,

I figured out I was very ill with something and went screaming for a diagnosis.

(for years I thought I had carpal tunnel syndrome). Anyway, let me say that

fibro for most of us progresses. It gets worse with time. Mine certainly has.

It was very rude of that person to tell you that you should be able to tolerate

pain because she could without medication. That is a bunch of crap. The pain

gets severe with some of us. It is life changing.

Doctors... unfortunately alot of them still don't believe fibro is real. At

least they are starting to get educated on it now. But many label us as drug

seekers. I have been treated horribly before in the E.R. because they thought I

was some junkie off the street when I came in crying with pain so bad in my

hands that I could not stand it.

I know how that feels to be treated this way. Please continue to look for

another doc. There are more now that know this disease is real. Do not waste

your time with an idiot that just labels you depressed. I have had depression

for years. It got stabilized with medication but the fibro got worse and worse.

Depression does not cause fibro though. But, I agree, even if you don't have a

diagnosis of depression... fibromyalgia will cause it. Who would not be

depressed when they are in pain all the time and are exhausted and can hardly

think? You are right.

I am sorry that I could not jump in and talk with you sooner. It is just that I

have 200 plus emails everyday in this box from the fibro group. I welcome them

all, but don't have time to read and respond to them all. I hope you will hang

in there with us though.
