Communities represent the diversity of people and families living within it. Joining them together creates a symbol of hope for our children. For many a puzzle piece reflects the mystery and complexity of autism. Every April is Autism Awareness month, but this is something we need to think about all year long. Coming together affords us a special chance to make others aware of Autism Spectrum Disorder’s. With awareness we create opening for the puzzle pieces to fit in. That is why The Making Autistic Strides Foundation has chosen to create a “Melody of Hope†for the children of our future. The “Melody of Hope†concert event has been put together with the very thoughts of bringing the communities together for a great day of fun and at the same time spreading awareness for Autism and to raise funds for our schools. All dollars raised from the “Melody of Hope Tour†will be put right back where it’s been taken away, our schools and aftercare programs. If we don’t stand up as a community and face the music now, who will? Making Autistic Strides is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to Raising Autism Awareness across the nation. We are a parent run South Florida based charity established in 2009. It is our mission to work the puzzle together while spreading awareness and enhancing the quality of life and educational experiences of individuals touched by the Autism Spectrum Disorders. Combined with our passion for creating autism awareness, we are also dedicated to raising funds for improving the educational experience for all children with special needs through Classroom Improvement Programs in Broward County. Our children spend 75% of the calendar year in school and with the statistic of 1 in 110 children being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and with the current educational funding crisis our classrooms are in need now more than ever. Your support will enable us to provide much needed educational materials, sensory items, build indoor activity centers, club actives, intergraded Play Pal programs and provide teacher support through continuing education programs. The Parkland YMCA Family Center By 2012 will become a powerful force in creating a strong community by being recognized as the place to go that demonstrates, teaches and encourages healthy life skills and values. Because of this, The Making Autistic Strides Foundation has chosen to donate 50% of the proceeds from the “Melody of Hope Tour†towards the after school programs at the YMCA Family Center in Parkland.
