Guest guest
This brings back memories of the OKC bombing. We lived 60 miles north of that bombing; yet we still felt the earth move and time stand still. I remember donating blood, and baking and delivering cookies to rescue personnel. My ex-husband's cousin, Porter, was the one who took that sad photograph of baby Bailee in the firefighter's arms (later, 's sister and my daughter worked together as dance teachers, and just a couple months ago I went to the movies with the highway patrol officer who arrested McVeigh). But today I have been so worried about everyone on the CF lists in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania and have hoped that you, your family, and friends are safe and that we avoid war. I'm living in Chicago now and it's been rather scary to hear reports of evacuating downtown and closing down O'Hare. I live about 20 minutes north of downtown and generally you hear airplanes throughout the day. But today the skies were quiet. My son came over for dinner tonight and we watched the news reports. He has friends attending college in the NY area, and living not far from the World Trade Center. I'm thankful he heard from them and they are okay. My son works in downtown Chicago in the Hancock Building, but today he had classes so he wasn't at work. My daughter called me this morning from Edmond, Oklahoma to say her history prof cancelled class cancelled and public schools were cancelled, reminding me of the Edmond Post Office massacre 15 years ago. My sister was in the hospital in labor with her first child; her husband kept a window vigil as the ambulances arrived bringing in the dead and wounded. Prayers to all of you for safekeeping in the days to come -- and thank you for thinking of us, Torsten. Guest guest
Hello all of you in the USA! Also in Holland the television is covering the news from the USA the whole day. It is just unbelievable and so horrific. We can not imagine what you are going through. Our thoughts are with you. Rosemary I hope your third brother is o.k. too. Those firefighters and policemen risked their lifes to rescue other people. Just to let you know that we are thinking of you in this time of shock. Best regards, Tine Zwaan, mother of Gwendolynn 7 wcf.
Guest guest
Oh. Torsten, 20 hours later, we know that our navy is patrolling the Persian Gulf, New York Harbor, the Potomac, and SEATTLE waterways! We do not know what to expect next, but they know know that many hundreds of firefighters and many, many police died, and heaven only knows how many inside those stupid towers and the Pentagon. And I have a kid who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the army, a doctor, too, and a member of the medical corps, and I haven't heard a word in days, nor from partner! EEEEEEEK! How sweet of you to be the first on any list to com ment on this. Thank you so much, lots of love to you, Silke, and FIONA! n Rojas
