Guest guest
I'm just starting the path to diagnosis, or documentation of Fibromyalgia after firing the family doctor. Shortly after meeting two women in a circle of associates that have exactly the same symptoms I have been experiencing for over 10 years, I was given the first real ray of light that I in fact have Fibromyalgia. After being made aware of its symptoms, causes, and effects a futile attempt was made with the family doctor to connect the dots with the treatments I had already been receiving for a multitude of ailments. Also I highly suspect that I may also have Post Polio Syndrome stemming from a single childhood memory in 1964 when I was 3 years old. Several sporadic incidents from childhood to young adulthood were previously dismissed as growing pains, or I simply over exerted myself. Then the heavy duty symptoms started to occur after I was rear ended at a traffic light 7 years ago, now I believe that this incident sped up the process that I was going to experience in my " best " years. I've had enough of the " be a man and take it " mentality, a chain of years with chronic pain will wear anyone down. Just glad I finally had enough and " will " do something about it, it's good to be here and to have the opportunity to talk with people that are going through the same issues. Guest guest
Hello and welcome. Forgive me, but I'm confused about your name. Are you or Staunton? I'm glad you were able to find out about FM from those women. Yes, FM is much more common in women, so I bet your doctor was more inclined to brush you off than he would a woman. But there are unfortunately still many docs out there who do not believe in FM. So, you did the right thing in firing him. Hope you are able to find a doc who believes and will treat your pain as needed. Take care.
