Guest guest
Connie, There r many reason s for high BP,dtr is being evaluated for sudden high BP,has PCOS,and possible renal artery stenosis. If never had high BP B4 it needs to be evaluated immediately and treated immediately. The hospital docs may not want to treat it but don't let them tell you you don't need BP meds. You may need a good cardiologist or /and endocrinologist. GOOD LUCK,feel better. JODI M.RN To: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group Sent: 3/17/08 1:19 PM Subject: Re: Bummer Day and Many Questions! Connie, 1st - sorry you are having such a rough time of it. HBP is dangerous - so please make sure you get onto some meds to bring it down. Did the emergency room not give you something? IF they did not, that is just plain wrong in my opinion. 2nd -***Weight gain and diffuculty in loosing the weight, and I am not under any sort of medication other than vitamins. I eat well and I am active.*** - this could be several things, BUT for a lot of people it is their thyroid that is going out. Do some research under Hypothyrodism and see if you think that fits. I have it and struggle every day. You can also check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com - this is a website done by a patient who wants to help others with this particular disease. 3rd - ***this high blood pressure a result of the weight, or is it also a symptom associated with FM? Or could it be from something else? *** - FOR ME - when my weight gets too high my blood pressure goes up and I have to go on meds until I can lose the weight. I am sure that there are many other causes, hopefully you will find what is causing yours. Christi Randall www.singingwomenoftexas.com Bummer Day and Many Questions! Well I am not so well any more at all! And I need some answers. Just really hard to find a doc here! I went to the ER on Saturday, I fainted at work. Turns out I have high blood pressure! It was so high that I just passed out. I was just working and having a great time like I always do and I started feeling light headed and a bit nausious, then I was on the floor with my head in someone's lap! She turned out to be a nurse who was just in the store! They took me to the hospital and now I can't go back to work until I see a doc! Well My doc seems to be on vacation for the week! I am hoping that I can get into see the doc covering
Guest guest
Thanks for all the answers so far, I am learning so much! I got a blood pressure cuff from the store and I am keeping up with it several times daily. Monday I finally got in to see a doc, got some BP pills Tekturna, take one time daily. I still have to see my regular doc next Monday before I can go back to work, and I am truely going up a tree. I go in this afternoon to see the substitute doc to see if these pills are working. I did finally get to talk to a nurse from the doc where I got my colonoscopy last monday, she assured me that my BP was just fine during and after the proceedure, so I am really wondering what happened in the 4 days following that made me faint from high BP on Saturday!!!! O did I say Sub Doc, yes, it seems that all the docs are on vacation this week with their kids out for Spring Break! No Kidding! And there are no Rhumitologists or Endocrinologists, or even Heart specialists in this small town. I looked in the phone book the other day and for the Central Peninsula containing somewhere in the area of 12000 people in 4 or 5 small communities there are 35 doctors of various specialties! and one hospital, which is quite nice! We are about 150 miles from Anchorage which has much better facilities, but is very dangerous to get there in the winter, 3 treacherous mountain passes. There is only one road in and out, heck there is only one road thru Alaska! A couple of spurs, but still only one way in and out! It is beautiful and well worth the inconvieniences to be very sure, I would not want to go back to any place I have been before! Well, I digress from the topic at hand! It seems that the pills that I am taking work for a couple hours after I take them, then the BP is back up. The doc will look at it this afternoon and hopefully tell me something else. Poor guy, he is covering 3 other docs this week in adition to his own load! I did ask him briefly about FM and he doged the topic like it was hot acid! At least he saw me and got me started on treatments! I will get back to you later, keep me in your prayers!
