Guest guest
Just want to say I talked with them yesterday, she did say you only have 5yrs after stopping work to apply, or you have to go SSI which is much less. They want me to provide alo more paperwork then BINDER & BINDER, yrly social security benifits print out, want me to go to the doctor again, and want my doctor's to already have sent in there paperwork before they help me, so I have some work to do, just went to Dr. 2 wks ago, I kept telling her my Dr was in agreement I needed to be on SSD now, but she was not getting it, as she kept saying find out if Dr in agreement with your illness. I may just stick with Binder and Binder as they just have you sign for them to contact Dr. for copy of record. Good Luck all applying. Sharon wrote: HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO WRITE THAT SS DECLARED ME TOTALLY DISABLED THE FIRST TIME I APPLIED?????? I USED ALLSUP, I KNOW SOMEONE IN THIS GROUP WAS TOLD BY THEM, THEY WAITED TOO LONG, BUT WHEN I APPLIED IN 2006, I HAD NOT WORKED FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS. SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE BURNOUTS AT THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE, START OUT USING ALLSUP OR A LAWYER!!! AND REMEMBER, THE FEE MAY BE 25% FOR THE SERVICE, BUT FROM MY STAND POINT IT WAS WORTH IT AND ALLSUP DETERMINED THAT THE PAYMENT I RECEIVED INITIALLY WAS FOR THE MONTH THE FIRST CHECK CAME, SO THEY ACTUALLY TOOK LESS!!!! AND ALSO, KNOWING HOW NASTY GOVERNMENT WORKERS CAN GET, YOU MIGHT ALSO, IF YOU ARE DOING IT ON YOUR OWN, CALL, WRITE, FAX WHATEVER YOU LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES AND YOUR SENATOR AND REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS. IT'S AMAZING WHAT THEY CAN HAVE SOMEONE ON THEIR STAFF DO FOR YOU --- ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR VOTE. AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO KNOW IF YOU VOTE FOR THEM OR NOT. EVEN TRY WRITING TO YOUR GOVENOR ---I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WHAT MY HUSBAND, AS A STATE EMPLOYEE AT A WELL KNOWN HISTORIC SITE, HAD TO DEAL WITH WHEN IT TRICKLED DOWN FROM THE WRONG STATE GOVENOR TO THE LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE. IF THEY CAN HELP YOU, THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN FOR YOUR POSSIBLE VOTE. MARY > > Hey Sharon, > It took me about 4 years to be approved for my disability ! Get yourself syched to be rejected, because they always reject you on your initial application ! And I had a slew of other illnesses besides the fibro. When you get your denial letter, which could take as long as 4 to 6 mos..Don't waste any time, get yourself a disability lawyer ! And anytime you fill out paperwork for the SSA, or anyone, your lawyer included, keep yourself a copy of whatever you send them.....Believe you me, it will make your life easier the next time you have to do it all over again...I got so tired of answering the same questions over and over on a different page...Then, your lawyer will ask for an appeal, you will most likely be denied again, and then your lawyer will ask for a hearing before a judge...Just have your story straight and make sure you have good communication with your lawyer, when I went for my hearing it was July of 2004 and I didn't get my approval letter till November of > 2004. I got my back money about Dec. 15, and I started getting my regular monthly checks beginning Jan. 3, 2005. I think that they keep it going just as long as they can just to get you frustrated enough to give up, BUT DON'T , IT'S WORTH IT......I kept telling myself to be patient, it was really hard, but I did it....Hope this helps. > > Pam >

Sharon Sharon, I apologize if you weren't treated with courtesy, I don't remember what all I provided but, at the same time, it had only been 2 years since I had worked. If it has been a few more years than that, I do remember someone else saying last summmer that they had waited so long that there was little Allsup could do. But I had nothing but good experiences with them. I do remember that the person who was in charge of my case was named Kate, but I did talk to different people over the course of the 7 months it took from when I applied until I was approved.
