This session will begin with an overview the importance of social competence for individuals on the spectrum. Strategies to teach social competence to individuals on the spectrum as well as means of assessing skills acquisition will also be provided. The emphasis will be on practical information that can be applied across settings "Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way." -Abraham Lincoln

This session will begin with an overview

information that can be applied

is appropriate for educators; families;

human service professionals including

front line supervisors, nurses, social

workers, program coordinators, case

managers, QMRPs, direct support professionals;

and other individuals involved in

efforts to improve learning outcomes and

quality of life for people with disabilities.

Social Competence for Persons with ASD

Phone Conference & PPT/Webinar:

After registering, each site will be

emailed the handouts for the meeting

including the PowerPoint presentation

and the toll-free telephone number to

use for the event. Participants will be

able to hear the presentation during the

conference call while they view the presenters’

PowerPoint slides through a

local slide show or via the internet. The

presenter has allowed time for questions

during the presentation.

If you do not receive materials for

the webinar 3 days prior to the

event, please contact Jana Schultz.

Technical Requirements: Participating

sites need a computer with Windows

‘98 (or newer) operating system,

CD-ROM drive, and PowerPoint software

OR a computer with a high speed

internet connection and an LCD projector

if the number of participants warrants

it. The call-in number is a toll

free number. There will be no long

distance charges for sites.
