Guest guest
Hi! Welcome to the group! I was on Cymbalta for 3 yrs. I was put on it for depression related to PTSD and pain. It did nothing for my pain. It helped a little with my depression. That is so great it is relieving your pain. I think it will continue to work for you, but I have heard it is not as effect if you also take pain meds. One word of caution, NEVER, EVER run out of it because you will probably experience horrible side effects. It's also infamous for being really difficult to come off of. Google it and you will find lots of info on it. Jill Welcome Hinky *Welcome to the group Hinky. Nice to have you with us. Guest guest
-Thank You Jill for the info!! I went to webMD and did some research. I read all 612 reviews and they were so mixed in their remarks that I was almost scared. they spoke of brain shocks.... I have had those, I'm also on Requip 5 mg a day and I get brain shocks from that sometimes so I know about those. I just won't ever stop taking it, that will solve that problem, won't it???? Yes it has helped my pain a lot. I just hope It continues... That was some of the remarks in the reviews: it helped at the beginning but stopped working after awhile. It is soooooooo nice to get up in the morning and not wake to the burning pain, stiff hands & fingers, feet that can be walked on without feeling like your walking on glass.... mornings were my worst times. I say a prayer that this keeps working!!!! It's like I'm in my own little remission. we all know how nice those are!!!! UNTILL we do that one thing that brings it on and you are reminded that it still has a hold on you and bites you once again. That's what I think is going to happen with this Cymbalta... I think it will come back again... I know I'm being pessimistic, but you get that way after years & years of dealing with Fibro. Well I didn't mean to ramble on ya'll, I will check back in to see if anyone else has used it and what their out come was. thanks for listening...Hinky -- In Fibromyalgia_Support_Group , " jill larion " wrote: > > Hi! > > Welcome to the group! > > I was on Cymbalta for 3 yrs. Guest guest
Hi Hinky, If Cymbalta helps your pain I wouldn't worry about the issues with it. Also, if you feel better, you will move more and then you won't gain weight. Just be careful not to run out because the withdrawal can hit pretty fast. For me, the withdrawal is from HELL, but yours may not be that bad. I actually had a moron Dr. take me off of 60mg of Cymbalta cold turkey. I thought I was going to die. I kept calling the office and everyone kept telling me it was only an antidepressant not narcotics so withdrawal shouldn't be an issue. You should NOT stop any antidepressant cold turkey, especially Cymbalta and Effexor. They are infamous for horrible withdrawal symptoms that last for months. I could not believe a Dr. who rx these meds was not aware of this. I was hysterical because it was so awful. I could not function at all and the world kept spinning. My husband finally went in and demanded another rx. I wish I had NEVER started on Cymbalta. It has been a nightmare for me. I have tried to come off it very, very slowly, but the withdrawal is still too severe. If it helped my pain, like it does you, it would be worth it! So, if you are finding relief with it don't let the reviews scare you........... Jill Welcome Hinky > > > *Welcome to the group Hinky. Nice to have you with us.
