As you may know, the State legislature is considering all sorts of proposals for reducing the budget deficit, particularly in Medicaid funded programs. The CMS Title 21 is currently the only Medicaid funded option that covers ABA. Without this option, we are once again left with only a few being able to access this valuable service – those who are strong enough financially to be able to pay out of pocket and the 14% of Floridians whose insurance qualifies under the Autism Mandate. It’s important that we speak up. I suggest you not only contact your CMS office, but also your State representative, Senators, and the Governor, and let them know how this funding cut back would affect you personally. Guest guest
Honestly I haven't stopped crying thinking about this. My son is 13 and I'm even debating about dropping him out of school @ 16 because I feel everyone is preparing him for an adult day care such as places like Lucanus. This is not the type of enviornment that I want for my son. Something has to change. I'm sorry call me delusion but I expect more. But there is nothing else out there in this state. I don't know if anyone has seen the movie which is a documentary about a sibling of a famous actress in france. It documents how a high function child became a low functioning adult due to her enviornment. How heavily medicated she was throughout the day. Our kids which were born around the years of 1998 and 2001 are feeling the pressures of how is our child going to fit in the comunity. Though the resources are horrific. Staff members not educated and no one really cares. Where are the people who care about our kids to help them succeed in this world. And just because you say non for profit does it have any justice on what they do.
