This is the day a parent of a Special Need's teenager looks forward to (your daughter is 80-100% intelligible yet you know that is CRAZY!) When you hear your child substitute bl blends for gl, like blad instead of the word glad, who is hearing wrong? When peers and teachers says she could be understand, they may get the jist of what she is saying but do they really hear her??? Why is it my family and people that work with us privately hear the errors yet the school blows them off, and this is acceptable!?!?!? I don't want my daughter to have self-esteem issues as I do from growing up with a Learning Disability. Will these words mispronounced be so cute when she is in her 20's and 30's?

Suggestions, other than the mom Advocate that won't take BS along with Private Speech Therapist that has known my daughter before she could talk sentences!

Thanks,

Ask for a Speech and Language IEE. How old is the kid? What kind of services?Sent via BlackBerry from T-MobileFrom: GB7289@...Sender: sList Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2011 14:42:51 -0500 (EST)To: ; <sList >ReplyTo: sList Subject: Fwd: IEP, parent vs. school This is the day a parent of a Special Need's teenager looks forward to (your daughter is 80-100% intelligible yet you know that is CRAZY!) IEE is an independent evaluation, done by someone not on the school district's payroll. If your daughter has been evaluated by the school and found to be on grade and/or not to have any language concerns (since they're are blowing off your concerns)n you can disagree with them and request an IEE. Read your safeguards book to learn about it. The school would have a harder time denying your concerns if someone else is in your corner, right? Also, how is she doing on her goals?
