Hi, I was diagnose with fibromyalgia about two months ago, My doctor

kept saying it was my depression, underactive thyroid etc. I showed her

a pamplet on fibro and she said you do have most of the symptoms, she

gave me ultram and flexeril, it really doesn't help. I have had pain

for as long as I can remember, thought it was normal for me,till it got

worst. I live in north georgia with my husband of 25 years. I am on

SSDI for all of my other health problems. I wanted to join to find out

more about fibro and see what others are saying.

Hi ,

I am also new to this group. I was diagnosed with fibro about three months

ago. I am on a medication called lyrica. It has helped me out more than a

person could imagine. I was also in a lot of pain going from doctor to doctor

and was finally referred to a rheumatoligist that new exactly what I had and

what to do for it. He said it was one of the worst cases he had ever seen but,

I was back up and on my feet doing everthing that I was before. Lyrica is what

did it for me and if you ever have any questions just please ask and i will try

to help!

Hi and welcome aboard. I am in Georgia as well (I think there

are 3 or 4 of us, spread all over, mostly in north Georgia though),

although I am about 40 miles south of Atlanta, not far from the race

track to give you an idea.

If the ultram and flexeril are not working, call your doctor's office

and let them know. There are stronger things out there. I switched

from flexeril to robaxin. I'm also on Lyrica 2 x a day.

If your insurance company doesn't require referrals, then I would

search for a rheumatologist in or around your area and then call them

to find out if they handle fibro. Some don't believe in the disease

so you want someone who does. They can do the testing (push the

pressure points....ouch) to confirm. They may also want to do blood

work to rule out RA or lupus, which is fine. You could do your

initial search online and then call, call, call until you find one

that does believe in fibro.

Most of us are fighting for SSD so while I'm sorry you are already on

it for other health issues, we may have questions for you as far as

surviving the hearing or what other issues you have that helped

you " win " .

Again, welcome aboard!

Hi Annette,

I can't remember if I welcomed you or not, but I'm glad you're here.....I can't

wait to see my PCP on Friday, I'm praying she will put me on Lyrica. I want to

give it a try so badly. That is wonderful it is doing so much for you. Gives me

hope!

Take care,
