Guest guest
Jill, That must really be h-ll to have to go off cymbalta like that, and I don't know why your Dr. is so numb, as when I went on that and thought it would work for the pain, as this is the reason My Dr. asked me to try, as I have never c/o depression, so at the time I was desperate to have pain relief I gave it a shot, My dr. knowing my history for sensitivity to alot of meds warned me if I had started this drug and once on after 2 wks, I would not want to stop immed., as I am known to do this even thought lots of meds should be weaned off of. I ended up having to stop within 1 week of bit more. Just the other day I was talking to pharmacist, about this drug and effexor, as someone had posted insurance Co. shut them off from conering cost without warning, and his exact words were OH BOY that is trouble. He told me he had not of this happening yet here where I live, but insurance can not leave you out there solo with out tapering off and these insurance co. should be contacted and tell them this is against the law. Anyway I can't imagine how you felt, and it says right there you can have suicidal thoughts with cold turkey stopping just as with taking the drug also. I am on effexor and quit as had side effects, but after stopping and my pain is ten fold, I against being told I would probably develop same effects back, and probably will, but i don't know what is worse. I walked aroung wanting to SCREAM inside out, and it would not go away. I have only gone back on them about 2 wks now so we will see, if have to quit again, don't know what will happen, what were your withdrawel symptoms like, so I can compare if this is what i felt or just the fact my pain intensefied. Thanks for your input. Take Care Sharon jill larion wrote: Hi Hinky, If Cymbalta helps your pain I wouldn't worry about the issues with it. Also, if you feel better, you will move more and then you won't gain weight. Just be careful not to run out because the withdrawal can hit pretty fast. For me, the withdrawal is from HELL, but yours may not be that bad. I actually had a moron Dr. take me off of 60mg of Cymbalta cold turkey. I thought I was going to die. I kept calling the office and everyone kept telling me it was only an antidepressant not narcotics so withdrawal shouldn't be an issue. You should NOT stop any antidepressant cold turkey, especially Cymbalta and Effexor. They are infamous for horrible withdrawal symptoms that last for months. I could not believe a Dr. who rx these meds was not aware of this. I was hysterical because it was so awful. I could not function at all and the world kept spinning. My husband finally went in and demanded another rx. I wish I had NEVER started on Cymbalta. It has been a nightmare for me. I have tried to come off it very, very slowly, but the withdrawal is still too severe. If it helped my pain, like it does you, it would be worth it! So, if you are finding relief with it don't let the reviews scare you........... Jill Welcome Hinky > > > *Welcome to the group Hinky. Nice to have you with us. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, My withdrawal symptoms were extreme vertigo and not being able to focus on things. An overall sense of being ill, kind of like the flu. Severe anxiety. I felt like I was going to crawl out of my skin. It's such a horrible feeling, it's hard to even describe. It stopped my life because I literally couldn't do anything. I even had trouble walking. I really hope you don't have to go thru this.......!!!! Jill Welcome Hinky > > > *Welcome to the group Hinky. Guest guest
I am on Cymbalta and have not had to stop... But I was wondering for the people who had withdrawal symptoms - did you take any other antidepressant as you were stopping? I'm wondering if that would help with the withdrawal, if you took another one that is easier to stop as you stopped Cymbalta, and then stopped the other one. Guest guest
Mira, No I didn't take another anti-d while trying to come off Cymbalta because my Dr.'s are morons and never mentioned it to me. They did give me a rx for Meclizine which helps with dizziness. Could not even touch the dizziness and vertigo I was experiencing plus made me even more tired. I have since learned it is an option and plan on trying it. Jill Re: Jill / Hincky cymbalta --- Hey mira, I have just strated the Cymbalta.
