Guest guest
Are you still on Cymbalta then, Jill? The reason I ask is because for some people, they need to wean off so slowly, that they need a med that comes in tablet form rather than capsules such as Cymbalta. When I took Effexor, prior to Cymbalta, it came in tablets. I've heard of people actually shaving off just a portion of each tablet for a few days, so the weaning off is extremely gradual. Maybe this would be an option? Or did you say you had switched to Celexa due to cost? Now my foggy brain is getting confused. Jeanne in WI If Cymbalta helps your pain I wouldn't worry about the issues with it. Also, if you feel better, you will move more and then you won't gain weight. Just be careful not to run out because the withdrawal can hit pretty fast. For me, the withdrawal is from HELL, but yours may not be that bad. I actually had a moron Dr. take me off of 60mg of Cymbalta cold turkey. I thought I was going to die. I kept calling the office and everyone kept telling me it was only an antidepressant not narcotics so withdrawal shouldn't be an issue. You should NOT stop any antidepressant cold turkey, especially Cymbalta and Effexor. They are infamous for horrible withdrawal symptoms that last for months. I could not believe a Dr. who rx these meds was not aware of this. I was hysterical because it was so awful. I could not function at all and the world kept spinning. My husband finally went in and demanded another rx. I wish I had NEVER started on Cymbalta. It has been a nightmare for me. I have tried to come off it very, very slowly, but the withdrawal is still too severe. If it helped my pain, like it does you, it would be worth it! So, if you are finding relief with it don't let the reviews scare you........... Jill
Guest guest
Jeanne, Yeah! on your bed! I hope you love it and it brings you relief! I'm still on Cymbalta. I just switched back after going on Effexor. I'm also on Trazedone which you are NOT suppossed to take with Effexor. My pharmacy did not catch it and I started having symptoms of Seritonin Syndrome. Luckily, I looked it up and realized what was happening. I'm REALLY PISSED at Walgreens. I called them and told them what happened. They said taking both is not a big deal. Well, it is according to every website I've been to, including Effexor's. I think i'm going to switch pharmacies. Jill Jill/Cymbalta Are you still on Cymbalta then, Jill? Guest guest
To anyone and everyone -- who ever wrote the message about going off anti-depressants cold turkey needs to be shot!!! And I can't believe the pharmacy said you can take Trazedone and Effexor together, did they not check the info that probably popped out as patient info??? And I think I would call the number for Wyeth about what is on the info sheet --- make certain they have the info on what you can and cannot (should not) take at the same time. I think between the antidepressants I take for pscyh reasons and the ones for the fibro, I am probably a walking zombie at times. But my shrink, who controls those drugs says, she has to be the one two write all of those drugs -- because they are in the class they are!! Makes me so made! But on the other hand, there was the doctor in a rural area who, when we moved to this state, just wrote the script for what I had been taking --- no records, nothing --- is it any wonder after a while that I swallowed a bunch of pills and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I needed better supervision by a mental health professional which I then got! > > Jeanne, > > Yeah! on your bed! I hope you love it and it brings you relief! > > I'm still on Cymbalta. Guest guest
I have warnings on a lot of my meds about the Seratonin syndrome, especially mixing tramadol with the Cymbalta. But I have no other option for pain other than Tylenol. So I risk it, and pay attention to the symptoms. So far, so good. You must be extra sensitive to the medications and their side effects(your guafenesin story supports this theory as well). I use to take trazadone at bedtime with the Effexor and Cymbalta. My doc took me off the trazadone when she started trying various seizure meds to stabalize my moods. Hope you can find a med combo that works for you. Take care.
