Guest guest
I love each and ever one of my grands. Love their visits, when I can afford their plane tickets, and love to go visit them. Can y'all tell I foot the bill to maintain family relationships? Well, that aside, I am really struggling to show her a good time. Took her shopping the other day. She's 11 and wanting things like other girls have. No money at home, and sadly, very little here. But, anyhow, I digress. We had 'purse day'. I bought her her first pocketbook, a nice little 'Bum Equipment' denim bag, sensibly-sized for a young girl. Then got her a little manicure set, some polish, and some grooming items for her purse, to help her feel pretty. Not something her mom spends much effort on. Pops the kids and then ignores them. My son does most of the nurturing, but is driving truck, so his time with the kids is limited. Anyhow, we had a wonderful time, got her some pretty flavored lip gloss and other things she's allowed to have. She's not allowed to have pierced ears yet, so we found some of my ear cuffs and found a pretty gold pair that looks sweet on her. Gave her a little sterling necklace cable, then fished out a handpainted sailboat out of my goodies for last minute gifts. She was so cute, admiring herself in the car mirror the entire day. Played in the hair accessories I have on hand, and did her up real pretty. Now I'm afraid she's going to be way to stunning in a couple more years, lol. We found her some cute plaid sneakers at Payless, which she loved, and I had tucked back two cute shirt and pants outfits I had found for her on Ebay. Oh the wonders of having a young girl around. I just loved it. Sorry for rambling, but it was a wonderful time to spend with such a sweeet young girl. Shared a sandwich at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and she was in Heaven with the beautiful bright decor. Such a delight for a child closed up in the cold Northern Winter. I feel bad that I have to pinch pennies so bad (I don't have enough money for gas til tomorrow night). I had wanted to take her to the beach. Have arranged with a friend who has a condo right on the ocean to use her Pad to change and use the private beach there, but can't do it til I have money for gas. Parking is prohibitive on the beach, so this is the only way to go. Maybe Saturday if the weather is nice. Today I fished out all my old dolls, some made by her great-grandmother, and we fired up my little wind-up personal washing machine and got them fairly clean, other than stains from age. Sending them home with her for my granddaughters to enjoy. Never had any daughters of my own, so this is fun. Yesterday we walked down to the dock and showed her how to fish. It was a lot of fun for both of us. <grin> Just gotta keep being creative with the entertainment. Oh, and the other morning I introduced her to African Violets. We watered, dusted leaves with a paintbrush, and potted up some leaves. Today we cut up a pineapple and have the top drying, so we can plant it. Such fun to get to see the world through a child's eyes once again. Then there's always taking my Himalayan cat, Simon, out for walks in his stroller. Now that I look at what I've written here, I hope she will have good memories of visiting Grammy, even if on a very low budget. Guest guest
I enjoyed the visit, and I wasn't even there! It sounds lovely, really. I'm sure she will remember the wonderful things you did for her. It makes me miss my nieces, haven't seen them in 2 years. Enjoy your time with her. Guest guest
Oh it sounds like you are having such a wonderful visit with your granddaughter! All the special times you have given her - don't worry about not having money. She wants time with her grandma and she will treasure that forever. She will talk about the times she spent with you to her friends and family so please - money isn't what kids need. They need their grandparents and parents time more than anything. My grandbaby is just 8 months and I'm not going to say I can't wait until she gets older so I can do these things with her - I cherish each and every moment with her! hugs jeribelle2000 wrote: I love each and ever one of my grands. Guest guest
Thanks for the nice notes, and ! Well, I had just enough gas to get to a gathering last evening for some friends who are being relo'd from Fort Lauderdale to GR BR. He's leaving Monday, and she's packing and handling the details here, and leaving in 3 weeks to work for the same company in GR BR. I'll miss them both so much, but hey, we gotta follow the work in this day and age. I'll be keeping her dog and taking Missy to periodic vet visits during quarantine, then shipping her to Mum and Dad. Missy and our cat, Simon, are lovers, lol. They sleep together, play together, and share each others' food. What fun. Same company wants us to come to England to work for them also, but I'm dragging my feet here. Anyhow, had tons of fun last evening. Today we'll go down to Dania Beach. Friend who runs a little motel down there will allow me free parking and beach access to the private beach. Should be lovely. Just finishing up the laundry so we can go. Our relocating friends will come over the weekend to drop some things by (I've no clue what I'm inheriting in their move!) They are just signing with a company to keep the lawn cared for and check the house while they're gone, as the market doesn't make sense for them to list a house they just bought in the last 6 months. DH is talking about the three of us going to a car show on the weekend. Oh what fun (for him!), lololol. OK, more later. Gotta see if I can squeeze into that swimsuit (how's that for depressing?!) Guest guest
LOL squeezing into a swimsuit always depresses me. I start back up at water aerobics on Monday - I'm hoping it doesn't kill me! hugs jeribelle2000 wrote: Thanks for the nice notes, and ! While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. 3. Also, it is not uncommon for more than one member to be feeling bad at the same time when it comes to flares and b/c of that potentially take something another member says the wrong way. And that includes the things that one member may find funny (even if it's laughing at fibro itself) even though we who deal with illness whether one such as fibro or multiple illnesses try to keep a sense of humor. 5. Pls let's be gentle with each other, and if you are having a bad day pls let us know so that we can do our best to offer our support. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
How wonderful for you to have this wonderful time together and memories were made for y'all. I can't wait for grandkids someday. enjoy your time. I remember Grandma played games with us for hours. That was more memorable than anything she bought for me. they were very poor. so their time is what I recieved.
