My daughter who is NOT autistic but has some neurological problems had night terrors when she was that age. The best thing to do is to tell the child to take his pillow and blanket and sleep on the floor next to Mom's bed whenever he gets scared. DO NOT let the child get used to sleeping IN the bed!!! This is meant to give the child a sense of security a "safe" place. In school my kids were allowed to leave their class and go sit in the guidance office for a few minutes when feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Just knowing that there is a "place" to go to helps. Soon the child will feel better and stay in his own bed. I hope this helps. Sandy (You can also email me at above email).

Dr. Le Gunn has a wonderful homeopathic for children that is stronger than Rescue Remedy called Emotional Trauma...it's easy because it's drops. Call 561 350-9967 You may want to look into some testing to find out if your child's salts are high...this will cause high anxiety because the adrenals will be stressed. There are some biomedical things you can do. www.pHtestlabs.com

Passion flower drops from Whole Foods or other health store may help, or Lemon

Balm () might help. Supersup.com has the drops and Whole Foods has the

capsules. 5 to 10 drops usually works w/ the Lemon Balm (from the mint family

of herbs) and it usually doesn't interact poorly with any prescribed medicines.

My son who is in his twenties takes three to five 245 mg caps per day. Both of

these are good for anxiety, as is evening primrose, but I hope that a doctor is

consulted before giving any of these to a child who is only 5.

It seems like regression. I had that problem when my son was his age and I was firm with the routine for months until he get used again to it. In the meantime the parents will suffer because of the crying and tantrums but they have to be firm. Why? because if the pass it now when he gets older and more big it will be really hard to implement routines. The constant change in environment help them to get used to it, new places and persons. The behavior will fade with exposure and routine. This is not my expertise but it is my experience. Sent from my iPadOmayra Matamoros, MHSA, JD
