Guest guest
It really irks me when I see that aenorexic, thin boney women in Pfizer's Lyrica comercial. She is no good represention of a fibro patient. Based on what I have read here, many of you most likely may be overweight. Even I am bigger than that boney woman. How can she have a lot of muscle pain when she doesn't show much muscle? Am interested in your opinions on this. Debbie L
Guest guest
Debbie, I wholeheartedly agree! That commercial makes me queasy! I think it is really misrepresenting the illness. The way that woman in the commercial talks even bugs me...no way would she be that calm & serene! And you're right, she hardly HAS any muscles to ache in the first place. Looks like she does yoga everyday. I wish I was that thin. I'm 5'1 " & 162#'s right now...kinda makes me want to throw stuff at the TV when I see it... Guest guest
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is irked by this commercial. It's like fibro isn't as debilitating as it is. It's like. well, my fibro made me sore today, but I'm not stuck in bed and I don't have so much pain that there are times I rather not be on this planet. Oooooo, you opened a wound with me. Sure it brings fibro name out there, but it does NOT portray it the way it really is. Guest guest
I am so glad someone has spoken up about that woman!! I hate seeing that commerical because it doesn't represent the real fibro patient! Since I was diagnosed with Fibro in Sept 07 and placed on this so called Fibro pill I have put on 85lbs! YES 85LBS!!!!! Yeah, I have other issues like a herniated disc and have also been injected with steriods since October and I know that has some to do with my weight gain, BUT I have yet to find my " sweet spot " for Lyrica. Here's the deal! I gain weight I am increased on my Lyrica cause I am told due to my weight I am not at a good dose. So, let's increase the dosage, I gain more weight and here I am. Pain all over my body, I don't like getting out anymore. I am becoming a horrible person. I am in pain everyday on a scale from 1-10 anywhere from 8-10 for me every single day. If it's not the fibro it's my back. My entire body goes into twitches when I am trying to relax to go to sleep and even sometimes during the day just sitting. I don't shower unless someone is home with me because I am afraid I will fall in the shower. IT'S HORRIBLE!!! Get that skinny lady off the Lyrica commerical and put some of us on there! ha!! I feel as if I am in a twister and no one will let me out!! Guest guest
I'm not saying it hasn't helped but who can really tell when it helps and when it doesn't. But please understand I have had a steriod injection into my back for a herniated disc (L4) every month since October. That and the combination of the Lyrica hasn't helped me with my weight gain. It's just a bad mixture of the two demons. My PCP told me a couple of weeks ago, no more injections, so I guess now I will look at surgery to repair my back. I have run out of other options. So don't go by what it does for one person. Just like Fibro, it effects each of us differently at different times and no one knows why. Guest guest
I can't stand the way she talks. I think she is a very very poor representation of a fibro patient. Guest guest
Hi Debbie - I'm way behind on posts as usual. I'm glad the woman is thin rather than obviously overweight, because if she looked too overweight, people would say well it's just fat people who suffer from this. But, I do think her journal entry is way too tame. She should show more anger in the entry, and then a doctor should do the explanation about FM being a real condition that millions suffer from. Maybe we ought to form our own advertising campaign for Pfizer? Take care. Jeanne in WI It really irks me when I see that aenorexic, thin boney women in Pfizer's Lyrica comercial. Guest guest
Jeanne, your perspective makes more sense. People will know thin people get fibro also then. We probably should start our own advertising campaign for Pfizer. soft hugs, Debbie L > > Hi Debbie - I'm way behind on posts as usual.
