Hi all,

Last year you guys helped me find a great prek place program for my son, I was

hoping someone could recommend a good school for kindergarten next year? My son

has a diagnoses of high functioning autism, and I would like him to be in the

least restrictive environment, like an assisted K program or an integrated

class. We live in hollywood, but we are willing to drive or move. Also

wondering about a school that takes Mackay. We are zoned for Dania beach

elementary, and could possibly go to Sheridan park (since it is actually closer

to us). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,

Shiri

Thanks for the suggestions, I am looking into them.

Ida- It doesn't matter if its public or private as long as its a good school

that won't " box " him in b/c of his diagnosis.

Thanks,

Shiri

I live in the Weston area and we are happy with Everglades Elementary. My son is

in a combination of cluster and supported class. But several of his classmates

in the cluster that are higher functioning than him are being 90-100%

mainstreamed. My friend has a FH girl in 3rd grade and she is doing beautifully

100% mainstreamed. (Well she does get pull outs for Speech and OT). I also have

2 other friends whose rather HF boys already graduated last year but while

attending Everglades were mainstreamed 100% from second through fifth grade.

Hope this helps. They are doing well now in middle school. Ida
