Guest guest
Basically, people with disabilities don't vote. But I believe they have the right to if they are over 18. Or they can assign their voting rights to another. I believe that is what I was told when my son turned 18. So I think Autism Society of Florida should get together with Gold Coast Down's Syndrome and United Cerebral Palsy and organize a Voters Registration Day for all adult individuals with developmental disabilities. With such high voter apathy, if we could figure out a way for these people (or their assigned proxy) to register and then get to the polls to vote, maybe we could eventually make a difference. I know a lot of our kids are still minors, but one day they won't be. If you ask Joe the Floridian on the street if he would rather cut services to the disabled or raise taxes, what do you think his answer would be? Well, Joe is a registered voter. So who do you think our politicians listen to? Has this concept been tried before? Sent from my iPhone
