Guest guest
I know you just received an email about the Rally, but I wanted to be sure you do this right now. We need to flood the phone lines and emails of the Governor and leadership. They need a wake up call now! I am am concerned that I am not hearing any outrage. Has anybody read what was sent out yesterday? What has to happen to get people upset enough to act? This is the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane hitting the developmentally disabled. We need to send a message to the Governor and the legislative leadership, that this is not acceptable. We can no longer sit by and allow our loved ones to be slowly denied the services they desperately need. This means funding has been cut 35% in the past 3 years. It is time that the Governor and the legislature realize they cannot continue to cut funding to the most vulnerable in our society and expect us to just take it. Please call the Governor, Senate President Haridopolos, Speaker Cannon and tell them you are outraged at the recent move by the Governor. Ask them if this is a cruel joke, since it is April Fools Day? Call NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Governor Rick rick.scott@... Email: Senate President Mike Haridopolos Email: haridopolos.mike.weg@... Phone Speaker of the House Dean Cannon Email: dean.cannon@... I am going to call scott today, do you have any specific advice for my call other than the obvious that this is atrocious? Guest guest
To all who are concerned with the reduction of rates – Please note that ALL MW service authorizations have been abruptly ended as of midnight last night and that per the MW Handbook, providers are not to provide services without a valid authorization. According to this, any MW provider who provides services as of today is doing so for free. As of 4:30 pm today, providers have not been given any information as to the process of having services re-authorized. Furthermore, as we (and many other providers) tried to bill for services for March, we are receiving many denials due to “DS Waiver Not Approved, Detailed Denied – The prior authorization amount for this procedure has been met, or Pricing adjustment – PA pricing applied” Basically, not only were the authorizations abruptly ended, but monies previously authorized have been moved out of the system so that they cannot be billed. The APD Emergency Plan filed along with the Emergency Rule invoking the Governor’s authority to implement this change, states, “This temporary plan to reduce provider rates has been designed to have little or no effect on the level of service to APD clients… Rather, the temporary plan has been designed so that providers absorb the reductions over the short term.” I don’t know how many providers can really afford to absorb these reductions. The reductions in our rates range from 30% to 40% - not the purported 15%. I think many of us have not responded and expressed our concerns because we are simply in shock and have made our priority to figure out whether we can go on. The level of service to APD clients will/is being affected. Guest guest
Ven and all,When I called the Governor's office this afternoon, and said I lived in Coral Springs, the assistant said, "that's in Broward, right?" I said yes, then asked her if she'd gotten a lot of calls from Broward today. "Yes, a LOT!" she said, with a laugh.Thank you, everyone who called in, for doing your part, and not waiting for someone else to do it instead.Regards,----- Forwarded Message ----From: "vsequenzia@..." Guest guest
As sylvia mentioned we are all in shock! We want everyone to know that Florida Association of rehabilitation facilities (FARF) is taking action from what we have heard. I believe What was done and how it was done appears to be illegal. We should know more by Monday. We are outraged as well and we are looking into how many signatures are needed for a recall. This is the next step in this story. This governor cannot be allowed to continue to destroy this State. This must be the last straw! Hopefully the shock will wear off by morning and all recipients and providers will join in this cause!Cary Bouza-MeridaSent from my iPhone Ven and all,When I called the Governor's office this afternoon, and said I lived in Coral Springs, the assistant said, "that's in Broward, right?"
